Republican Leaders Slam Biden After Jobs Report Shows ‘Massive Miss’

Republican leaders slammed President Joe Biden after December’s jobs report released Friday reported numbers well below economists’ projections, highlighting the report as another example of how the president mishandled the post-pandemic recovery.

The U.S. economy added only 199,000 jobs in December while unemployment dipped to 3.9%, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) announced Friday. Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal projected that the economy would add 422,000 jobs in December and that unemployment to fall to 4.1%.

“Our economy should be soaring right now, but the policies of this administration continue to stifle growth and hold back American businesses and workers,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said in a statement.

Commentary: One Chart Explains Biden’s Inflation Disaster

We’ve told you before about Stephen Moore’s Committee to Unleash Prosperity and his must-read Hotline but the Friday, December 10 edition was a Pulitzer Prize winner, or would be if conservatives ever got Pulitzer Prizes. You can read the entire newsletter through this link and we highly recommend you do so, because in one edition it pretty well destroys the entire Biden Democrat agenda.

The lead article shows the effects of Biden’s inflation disaster in one chart. And Steve Moore explains “inflation isn’t going away. No, it isn’t transitory. And, sorry, no, CNN, it isn’t good for you!”

Trump Fed Pick Stephen Moore Cites Smear Campaign, Won’t Withdraw

U.S. President Donald Trump’s pick to fill a vacant seat at the Federal Reserve said on Sunday a smear campaign was being waged against him, after past writings and comments about women sparked renewed criticism by Democratic lawmakers. Stephen Moore, during an interview on ABC’s This Week, said there were a handful of reporters dedicated to digging up negative information on his personal life and past statements. Said Moore: And by the way, George, let me back up for a minute because probably this is the first time you’ve ever had a Federal Reserve board nominee on your show over all the years. And, you know, the president asked it me to do this. It’s been a little over a month. And just so people understand the history here. For the first week a lot of economists on the left and people in the media started attacking some of my economic ideas and that got them nowhere. I stand by, you know, what I’ve said and my credentials on the economy. And The Washington Post ran a piece, you know, several weeks ago saying you know, we can’t beat Steve Moore on his economic ideas, he has the votes…

Trump to Nominate Stephen Moore for Fed Board

President Donald Trump said Friday that he will nominate Stephen Moore, a conservative economic analyst, to fill a vacancy on the Federal Reserve’s seven-member board. Moore, a well-known and often polarizing figure in Washington political circles, served as an economic adviser to Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. In that role, he helped draft Trump’s tax cut plan. Trump has been harshly critical of the Fed’s rate increases last year even after the central bank this week announced that it foresees no hikes this year. Moore, who has served as chief economist for the conservative Heritage Foundation, has also been critical of policy moves made by Chairman Jerome Powell, who was hand-picked by Trump to be Fed chairman. An ardent defender of tax cuts, Moore is close to Larry Kudlow, head of the White House National Economic Council. The two collaborated in shaping the tax overhaul that Trump signed into law at the end of 2017, leading to changes that largely favored tax cuts for corporations and wealthier Americans with the idea of spurring investment and faster growth. Reshaping Central Bank Trump in his first two years in office has been able to reshape the central bank. He nominated four…

Economist Stephen Moore Blasts Senator Lamar Alexander and ‘Turncoat’ Republicans During Nashville Visit

Tennessee Star

NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Free-market economist Stephen Moore slammed U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) in a speech Saturday when talking about “turncoat” Republicans who did not support a recent Republican-led Senate effort to repeal Obamacare. He said the Tennessee senator is “leading the charge” to preserve Obamacare in some form. Last month, Alexander was one of seven Republicans to vote against a strong repeal amendment sponsored by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY). “What he is doing right now behind the scenes is a betrayal,” said Moore, the senior economic contributor for FreedomWorks and a fellow at the Heritage Foundation. Moore is a frequent commentator on TV and a former Wall Street Journal editorial board member. Moore spoke at a breakfast hosted by the Tennessee Republican Assembly at Glenwood Baptist Church in Nashville. The meeting was to be held at Dairy King next door, but had to be moved because of rain damage at the restaurant. Business leader Andrew Puzder, who was at one point President Trump’s nominee for labor secretary, also spoke at the event. “This is a very dangerous moment right now,” Moore said. “If Lamar has his way, we will permanently enshrine Obamacare into the budget. We will never get rid of…

EXCLUSIVE: Stephen Moore Is Taking the FreedomWorks ‘Axes to Taxes’ Tour to Tennessee

In an exclusive interview with The Tennessee Star, economic writer Stephen Moore, a campaign adviser to President Trump and Heritage Foundation fellow, tells why he has joined FreedomWorks to bring its “Axes to Taxes” tour to Tennessee. The event, hosted by the Tennessee Republican Assembly, will be held at the Dairy King in Nashville a week from Saturday, August 5, at 8:30 am. “The idea behind the tour is that FreedomWorks has about 6 million grassroots activists around the country, many of them Tea Party activists, many of them Donald Trump and Ted Cruz supporters from the past presidential race. Our concern is the left is making all the noise. It’s not our side that’s really activated the way liberals are,” Moore said. In order to counter balance that, “we need to get our side fired up again,” he added. “So that’s our real goal is to have this tour around the country.” Moore pointed out the practical impact of the noise from the left. “When these members in Congress go home for the recess, all they hear from is liberals. We want to get our side really ginned up again,” Moore said. Moore praised his friend, former Nashville talk radio…
