A bill introduced by a Tennessee Republican would exempt certain baby products from sales tax.
“There is exempt from the tax imposed by this chapter the retail sale of infant formula and diapers and wipes designed to be used by infants and children, if sold between 12:01 a.m. on July 1, 2024, and 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 2025,” says the text of HB 1637.

Seeking more sportsmen hunting, a tax holiday for shoppers looking to buy firearms and ammunition is being proposed in Georgia.
State Sen. Jason Anavitarte, R-Dallas, has proposed a “Second Amendment Tax Holiday Act.” It would eliminate sales tax on firearms, ammunition and related accessories for 11 days, starting on the Friday a week before whitetail deer season begins.

As part of the Tennessee Tax Works Act, signed into law earlier this year, Tennesseans will enjoy a three month reprieve from taxes on certain items at the grocery store.
Food and food ingredients will be exempt from state taxes from Tuesday until October 31, according to the state’s website.

Tennessee’s annual back-to-school tax holiday weekend, along with a three-month grocery tax holiday are about to begin.
The back-to-school holiday runs from July 28-30 and covers clothing, school supplies and computers. Specifically, clothing that costs less than $100 qualifies along with school or art supplies that cost less than $100 and computers, laptops and tablets for personal use that cost $1,500 or less.

According to the Tennessee Department of Revenue (TDOR), the state will soon begin implementing a $400 million tax cut law recently passed by the Tennessee General Assembly.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has extended the suspension of the state’s collection of taxes on motor and locomotive fuel.
The governor also extended the supply chain state of emergency. Both orders will be effective through Nov. 11, shortly after the election.

Tennesseans may notice their grocery bills are a little less this month, as Gov Bill Lee announced Monday that the long-awaited suspension of tax on groceries went into effect state-wide. The governor first proposed the idea in March.
“As Americans see their cost-of-living skyrocket amid historic inflation, suspending the grocery tax is the most effective way to provide direct relief to every Tennessean,” Lee said at the time.
