Tennessee State Rep and Far Left U.S. Senate Candidate Gloria Johnson Calls for Cease-Fire Following Brutal Hamas Terrorist Attack on Israel

Tennessee State Representative and liberal U.S. Senate candidate Gloria Johnson (D-Knoxville) has been relatively quiet on terrorist group Hamas’ horrifying attack on innocent Israeli civilians, but the Tennessee leftist’s first response was to call for a cease-fire.

Johnson (pictured above), who gained national attention as a member of the so-called “Tennessee Three” disorderly Democrat state lawmakers, fired off a message on her X account as Hamas members were systematically raping and murdering Jews.

Like most Americans, the Senate candidate said there should be no refuge for those who commit “an act of terror like we saw today.”

But like other vehemently pro-Palestinian State, “two-state solution”  liberals, Johnson quickly pivoted.

“We need an immediate cease fire and a long term peace agreement that keeps families safe,” she wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, at 9:54 p.m. on Saturday.

By that time, Hamas, a terrorist group of Islamic jihadists that sees themselves as liberators in their genocidal quest to wipe out Israel, had killed more than 1,200 people and dragged dozens more into Gaza as hostages, including Americans. Israel declared war. A cease-fire amid such brutality was the furthest thing from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s mind.

Yes, Every Kid

In subsequent days, Johnson said little more about the terrorist attack that for Israel was like 9/11 tenfold, other than to repost a comment from the far-left Tennessee Holler attacking her political rival U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) for criticizing President Joe Biden on the recent Iran prisoner exchange deal. Blackburn, on her X account, wrote that the Biden administration’s decision to unfreeze $6 billion in Iranian oil money freed the state sponsor of terrorism to “allocate more money towards funding its terrorist proxies like Hamas and Hezbollah.”

“Money is fungible. We all know it,” Blackburn wrote.

Liberals like Johnson have been apoplectic about such criticism of Biden’s deal with Iran, despite the fact that Hamas has claimed Iran supported the acts of terrorism, a claim supported by a bombshell Wall Street Journal report.

After Biden finally addressed the nation on Tuesday — a full three days after the assault on Israel began — Johnson agreed with the president that there is “no justification for terrorism.” She reposted Biden’s X post in which he declared that “Hamas does not stand for the Palestinian people’s equal right to dignity and self-determination.”

Johnson finally released a statement on her Facebook page on Wednesday evening “emphatically” condemning “the Hamas terrorists who are responsible for these kidnappings and brutal atrocities against Israeli civilians.” She backed Biden’s course of action.

There were no longer talks of a cease-fire, but Johnson wanted conditions on U.S. support for Israel against Hamas.

“But let me be clear: Our steadfast support for Israel should not be viewed as consent for indiscriminate military actions that endanger the lives of innocent families and American citizens who are being held hostage,” the statement declares.

“All the more reason to always be vigilant, trained & armed, against ALL threats as the founding fathers envisioned,” a Johnson Facebook follower wrote, a knock on the state representative’s  push for sweeping gun control measures in Tennessee.

Blackburn, whom Johnson is running to replace in Tennessee’s 2024 U.S. Senate election, has been unequivocal in her support for Israel.

“Just weeks ago, the Biden administration handed over $6 billion to Iran, and today, innocent Israelis were murdered by Iran-backed Hamas terrorists,” the Republican senator wrote in a statement on the day of the attacks. “We must continue to support our strongest ally in the Middle East and their right to defend themselves against these unprovoked, horrific attacks. I stand with Israel and join many around the world in praying for the safety and security of its people.”

Johnson did not return The Tennessee Star’s requests for comment.
