Tennessee Immigrant Group, Davidson Democrats Among Those Aiding Nashville Transit Referendum

Both the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Resettlement Coalition (TIRRC) Votes PAC and the Davidson County Democratic Party are among the groups that have provided in-kind contributions to the political action committee formed to support the Nashville transit referendum that will be decided by voters next week, the group revealed in a report filed Tuesday, when the Green Lights for Nashville PAC filed an amended financial disclosure statement with the State of Tennessee.

The report revealed the pro-referendum group received nearly $1.3 million in contributions, mostly from the Nashville Moves Action Fund, which is reportedly a 501 (c) (4) nonprofit that does not need to reveal its donors, but has nonetheless been ordered to register with Tennessee and disclose them by Election Day.

Tennessee Titans Partner with WeGo to Offer Free Bus Rides on Home Game Days

The Tennessee Titans and WeGo Public Transit have partnered to offer free bus service on days the NFL team plays at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

“We’re excited to expand and enhance our collaboration with WeGo into the full Titans season,” Burke Nihill, Titans president and CEO, said in a statement. “Free bus service is an incredible addition to the many ways to get to Titans home games.”

Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell on Wednesday declared his controversial transit referendum a “great opportunity” for the city after it was unanimously approved by the Metro Council, with every lawmaker present voting to allow Nashvillians to vote in November on whether to fund the $6.93 billion transportation package called illegal by critics. 

After the transit referendum was approved by the Metro Nashville City Council with unanimous support from the lawmakers present, O’Connell declared his approval in a statement, noting the final decision will go to Nashville residents in November.

Man Accused of Choking Granddaughter at Nashville Public Bus Station in Latest WeGo Incident

A man pushed, grabbed, and choked his granddaughter at a downtown public bus station in Nashville in the latest incident related to criminal activity associated with WeGo, WSMV reported.

Metro Nashville Police Department arrested Kevin Figgins, 58, on Monday. He is charged with domestic assault with bodily injury, and his bond has been set at $1,000, according to Davidson County court records.
