Tri-City Extrusion, Inc. Announces Expansion in Bristol

Tri-City Extrusion, Inc. (TCE) officials recently announced that the company will invest $30.8 million to expand its manufacturing operations in Northeast Tennessee.

“Our highly skilled workforce and strong business climate make Tennessee the ideal location for companies to thrive,” Tennessee Governor Bill Lee said in a statement. “I thank Tri-City Extrusion for creating more than 50 new manufacturing positions to ensure opportunity for Tennesseans in Sullivan County.”

Established in 1987 and headquartered in Bristol, TCE specializes in the production of precision aluminum extrusions in hollow and solid profiles for a variety of market applications. With the addition of the new positions, TCE will employ nearly 200 people in Bristol, according to a press release by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD).

“When a company like Tri-City Extrusion expands in Tennessee, it is not only a testament to our state’s ideal location and affordable cost of doing business, but also to the community the company calls home,” TNECD Commissioner Bob Rolfe said in a statement. “Bristol and Sullivan County have taken the steps needed to allow this company to grow and expand, and we look forward to seeing TCE continue to flourish.”

TCE will create 51 new jobs as the company increases capacity and constructs a new 120,500-square-foot facility at the Bristol Business Park, a Select Tennessee Certified Site, according to TNECD.

“When we considered a major expansion, one of the primary components was location, location, location,” Fred Vermeer, President and CEO of TCE expressed in a statement. “Tri-City Extrusion searched the southern district of Virginia and the Tri-Cities area for the ideal site. We selected the Bristol Business Park, not only for the location, but because of the cooperation the City of Bristol, Bristol Essential Services, the Sullivan County and the State of Tennessee demonstrated during our search to bring more than 50 full time jobs to the area. This is a huge investment for TCE, and we are gratified to have fantastic partners and employees to make this project a reality.”

“Bristol and Sullivan County have taken the steps needed to allow this company to grow and expand, …”

Did those steps include more taxpayer dollars and/or tax abatements? In other words what do these POSSIBLE 51 jobs cost?
