Firebrand Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene Featured Speaker at Wilson County Republican Party Trump Day Dinner
First-term and firebrand Congresswoman from Georgia’s 14th District was the featured speaker at the Wilson County Republican Party Trump Day Dinner held Thursday at the Farm Bureau Exposition Center on Baddour Parkway in Lebanon with nearly 400 people in attendance.
It was the largest event of its kind for the Wilson County GOP and coincides with the first time that Republican Party primaries will be held in the county.

Menda Holmes is candidate for the State House 46th District, a seat currently held by Mark Pody who is running for the 17th District Senate seat most recently held by gubernatorial candidate Mae Beavers. During her speech made to the monthly Wilson County GOP meeting in November, Menda told a personal story that “shaped my character, shaped who I am and shaped my fighting spirit.” In 1978, an accomplished horseback rider at the age of 19, Menda was on the back of a motorcycle when a car crashed into the bike and crushed her leg. A night of surgery and a month later, the recovery was not going well. With “no other good choices,” the medical professionals recommended that Menda’s left leg be amputated below the knee, and she agreed. It was at that point, Menda reflected, “I could have given up, but right then and there I said, I’m not quitting, I’m a fighter.” After being fitted with a prosthesis, Menda beat the typical two month timeframe and shed her crutches in just two weeks. Bill Bennett will speak Oct. 7 at the annual Wilson County Republican Party Reagan Day Dinner. Bennett is a well-known conservative author, radio host and former education secretary. He will be joined by economic and China and Russia expert Roger Robinson and Middle East policy expert Brian Kennedy. All three worked in the Reagan administration. Bennett was drug czar in addition to education secretary. Robinson served on the National Security Council and Kennedy served on the National Council of the Arts. “They will bring their boots-on-the-ground experience during the Reagan years to bear as they evaluate the current state of the Republican Party as it attempts to recreate the Reagan revolution under the guidance of an equally unlikely president,” says a Wilson County Republican Party news release. “Their insights will be important to Tennessee Republicans in helping them navigate similar local and national challenges.” The event is at 6 p.m. at the Wilson County Expo Center. Following an incident between State Representative Susan Lynn (R-Mt. Juliet) and the Wilson County Republican Party (WCRP) member volunteers at the annual county fair, WCRP Chairman, Terri Nicholson sent a letter signed “Deeply troubled” to State GOP Chairman Scott Golden requesting “that an immediate formal reprimand be issued to Representative Susan Lynn.” WCRP Chairman Nicholson’s letter further requested that Lynn provide “a formal apology to our party along with an agreement that she nor her husband will ever behave unprofessionally or disrespectful to the members of the Wilson County Republican Party again.” The letter from Nicholson, dated Monday, August 21, detailed the “altercation that transpired on Friday evening, August 18th, 2017 at the Wilson County Fair in Lebanon, TN.” Apparently, Rep. Lynn and her husband, Michael, were dissatisfied with the placement of various materials at the WCRP booth. After WCRP volunteers initially attempted to satisfy the Lynns by relocating various materials, the situation “escalated after she [Lynn] was not allowed to keep moving material,” according to Nicholson. From there, the situation deteriorated with Rep. Lynn’s husband “yelling with arms flailing” that volunteers in the booth were stupid. Nicholson describes that “the incident was a complete embarrassment to the WCRP”…
