Live from Music Row Friday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed the director of the number one reviewed and most watched documentary film on Amazon, The Plot Against the President, Amanda Milius to the newsmaker line to discuss her next project “Tyrrany of Tyrant’s” next year.
Leahy: We welcome to our newsmaker line right now, the great documentary filmmaker Amanda Milius. Good morning, Amanda.
Milius: Hi. How’s it going?
Leahy: It’s going great. I can tell that you have been listening to our program online. (Leahy laughs) Do you know how I can tell? Because I saw a new follower on Twitter, because you heard me give out the Michael P. Leahy on Twitter.
You followed me. You’re very social media savvy because you put out a little tweet about your appearance here just about 25 minutes ago.
Milius: Yes. Well, we got to stay on top of these things. This is the job. (Chuckles)Â
Leahy: You’re doing it very well. I appreciate the social media savviness on your part. Are you currently in Washington, D.C., or are you in Los Angeles?
Milius: I’m in D.C. People often think that I’m in LA, that I moved back, but I never left D.C. after working for the Trump administration. I don’t know why, but I still live in D.C. And luckily, you know what?
Luckily I live in Virginia. And that is a huge difference these days, let me tell you, because they just instituted the vax mandate for entering any restaurant, et cetera. It’s basically New York in regular D.C.
And if anybody’s ever spent any time in D.C., you know that just across the river, you’ve got Arlington and Alexandria, just all the great cities of Virginia, which is actually where I live. So my company, though, it’s called AMDC Films.
We are technically in Virginia and have absolutely no interest in driving across the river for anything but absolute musthaves. It sounds like a really dreadful place over there right now.
Leahy: First I am delighted that you are calling in from the Metro D.C. area and not from LA. I don’t feel guilty now for getting you up (Milius chuckles) because I would have been a pretty bad person. People do it. People have done it.
People have called into this program on the newsmaker line in the 6:00 a.m. hour from Los Angeles. But that’s a heavy lift because it’s like 4:00 a.m. in the morning there. Virginia now under Governor Youngkin must be a lot more fun place than it was under Governor Northam.
Milius: I always said that we were going to move to a red state as soon as possible. I didn’t realize that the red state would move to us. I didn’t think that Virginia was possible to change.
But really about a week after the victory, I went out and did a special screening of Plot Against the President with Kash Patel at one of the organizers parents.
Basically this new found group of political activists that were not political activists before. But when they started doing what they’re doing in the schools, they became political activists because they had to because they had to save the school districts for their children.
And we got to hang out and celebrate with a bunch of the parents who had gone to the school board meetings, who had joined the school board, who had done the real work to change what they saw destroying their community.
We were out in Loudon County, and it was awesome. It was just like being in normal America. It was not that far out of D.C.. It was really weird.
I started looking at why aren’t we out here? We need to go farther into the state. But it was really cool. That’s who really flipped the state or changed it. They just changed the state to being a livable place.
Leahy: On your Twitter account, which I’m looking at right now…
Milius: Uh oh.
Leahy: You describe yourself, you describe yourself as, a “weird Hollywood rich kid with strong semicoherent political views.” That’s kind of funny, but that’s interesting.
Milius: I didn’t come up with that. That’s sort of a Twitter thing you do like if somebody insults you, but the insult sounds sort of accurate sometimes you put it in your bio that’s actually what happened is somebody said that, I don’t know, some leftist said that to me where they were like, don’t listen to her.
She’s just some weird Hollywood rich kid. I love that they think I’m rich. I’m going to keep putting that out there. Why would I stop them. Whatever. I just thought it was funny. It was a well put together phrase.
And I joked about it and I retweeted it. And I said, I pay people to come up with interesting things for our bios and for our websites all day long. And nobody comes up with this? I don’t understand.
This is free. This website is free? (Leahy laughs) There’s a couple of people that do that really well. They’ll take an insult on Twitter and they’ll put it in their bio and it’s just hilarious. But yeah, that one was I don’t know, it just sounded really good. I was like, I can’t argue with this guy.
Leahy: Very good. Your documentary, The Plot Against the President has done very well. I guess what? It’s number one on Amazon right now? Is that right?
Milius: Yes. It’s still the most watched political documentary. It’s still possibly, I think, the most reviewed, most watched documentary on Amazon, which is, it’s just shocking still how the mainstream press doesn’t want to say anything about it.
The reason is Russiagate doesn’t really leave the news because every day somebody else is getting red pilled on Russia gate. Whether it’s one of these people like Bill Maher or Joe Rogan that are constantly getting the red pilled away from their eyes finally and saying, oh, wow.
Either the COVID thing woke them up to the fact that they’ve been lied to about so many things that they’re going back and realizing this. It keeps getting proven true.
The more and more information that comes out that at least is acceptable by the left or the mainstream news sites, it stays in. Every time Durham puts something out, it skyrockets because people want a refresher on Russiagate, on the characters. And it’s a fun watch.
Leahy: It is. I watched it. It was fabulous. You are a very talented documentary filmmaker.
Milius: Thank you.
Leahy: Very, very talented. Now I understand you have a new project called Thirty Tyrants. Is that right? What is that about?
Milius: Okay, so Lee Smith, who is the brilliant author of both Plot Against the President and his book after that, which is a must read called The Permanent Coup that basically describes everything we’re going through right now.
But he was obviously ahead of it by years. He wrote a really viral article called the Thirty Tyrants which sought to explain the sell out of the United States to China over the last 40, 50 years leading up to what’s happening now and what we find ourselves in now.
Because what we’re in right now is the country as a whole is waking up to the fact that we’ve already been sold out to China. It was like a very stealth operation. And so he outlined that brilliantly. And I encourage everyone to read it.
And the article is called the Thirty Tyrants. Obviously, we have a great relationship with Lee Smith. My production company just optioned essentially the book that he is writing to expand upon that article and to really flesh out the details of what was proposed in that piece.
And it’s just totally the right angle that I want to take on the China situation. Even what’s happening in the last three years with the Wuhan situation and the COVID nonsense will be woven through.
It’s going to be very like at the moment but also there’s a history here that people don’t know and that most people have no idea about. I happen to be a little bit privy to it because one of the first industries that China bought was Hollywood.
And this happened a lot longer ago than most people realize. Most people started talking about this like 10 years ago. My dad was dealing with this. I watched my dad get up and leave. My dad, John Milius, who was a filmmaker, obviously in the 70s, mostly in the 70s and 80s, some in the 90s, get up and leave a meeting.
One of my earlier memories was of a group of Chinese reviewers looking at his Genghis Khan script because they were looking at having Chinese funding.
Leahy: I have one last question for you. We’ve got a minute left here. Amanda. Very important. Who are the Thirty Tyrants?
Milius: The Thirty Tyrants? Well, that’s a reference to Rome.
Leahy: Ahh.
Milius: I’m not entirely sure that that will remain the actual title of the movie.
Leahy: When are we likely to see it?
Milius: I would say in about a year.
