Bloomberg Spends Big in Ohio in Time for Early Voting Ahead of the State’s Presidential Preference Primary in March

Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg continues to invest heavily in Ohio as the state’s early voting period for its Democratic presidential primary opens next Monday.

Bloomberg announced this week that he hired 91 staff members to be on the ground in the Buckeye State. For the state’s upcoming primary, the billionaire has bought $10.5 million worth of Ohio TV and radio ads, according to cleveland.com.

Aaron Pickrell, who is Bloomberg’s campaign state director in Ohio, told cleveland.com the former mayor has assembled gives him a “tactical advantage” in Ohio.

“With only six weeks to go until the Ohio primary, we’ve built an incredible operation with a staff that knows this state better than anyone else and is focused on delivering a victory for Democrats in November,” he said.

The Democratic presidential candidate still has some catching up to do in Ohio. A poll done by FiveThirtyEight shows Bloomberg sitting in third place behind Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden.

Dan Lusheck, the Ohio press secretary for the President Trump’s re-election campaign, “downplayed ” Bloomberg’s Ohio efforts to businessjournaldaily.com.

“Bloomberg remains a coastal elitist who is out-of-touch with the heartland, and Ohioans will never approve of his nanny state regulations and radical job-killing environmental policies,” he said.

Bloomberg’s spending in Ohio is just a small part of his record spending spree trying to defeat the president in November. During 2019’s fourth quarter, he spent a record $188 million on his presidential campaign, according to Federal Elections Commission records.

Of the money the former mayor has spent so far, almost 50 percent of his ad budget on Super Tuesday and Rust Belt states, Axios reports.

Since announcing his presidential candidacy in November, Bloomberg has assembled quite the campaign staff. According to the New York Post in just four short months, he has a payroll staff of 1,000 people.

Still more damning news about Bloomberg: that he supported the racist banking/real estate practice of redlining where a whole neighborhood regardless of an individual resident’s credit rating gets unfairly penalized, thus aggravating the racial wealth gap, especially as it pertains to home ownership. Now, we learn that Wayne County, Michigan which includes the city of Detroit has illegally inflated the property taxes of low income people while favoring those with high incomes, thus causing responsible low-income homeowners to foreclose and thereby lose a major family nest egg!
