Center for Christian Virtue (CCV) and the March for Life Education and Defense Fund are teaming up once more to organize another march in Columbus following the tremendous success of the first Ohio March for Life.
Ohio residents on October 6th can participate in the second statewide Ohio March for Life at the State Capitol in Columbus.
According to March for Life, it’s critical for Ohioans to make their voices heard by the Ohio legislature that they want removal of the hold a Hamilton County judge put on the “heartbeat law” which does not allow performing or inducing an abortion after a detectable heartbeat.
“The Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs returned to the people, through their federal and state legislatures, the freedom to enact pro-life measures. In Ohio, it allowed a bill, signed in 2019 by Governor DeWine protecting unborn children from abortion after their heartbeat can be detected, to take effect. Sadly, that measure has now been held up in a state court, but we look forward to the day that these young lives are protected by law. It is crucial for pro-life Ohioans to continue to peacefully make their voices heard by the Ohio legislature, witnessing to the inherent dignity, goodness, and gift of every life,” March for Life President Jeanne Mancini told The Ohio Star.
The March for Life, held in Washington D.C., is an annual event that attracts crowds of marchers from across the U.S. who gather together to act as a voice for the pre-born. Ohio March for Life told The Star that it endeavors to harness that same passion in Ohio at the 2023 march in October.
According to the CCV, pro-life Ohioans must raise awareness about the mass murder of abortion, especially in light of the pro-abortion announcement to target the ballot with an amendment to enshrine abortion in the Ohio Constitution.
“With the recent announcement that pro-abortion groups will target the ballot with an amendment to enshrine abortion in the Ohio Constitution, it is so important for pro-life Ohioans to assemble to raise awareness about the mass murder that the abortion industry has been getting away with for far too long. The Ohio March for Life is a perfect opportunity for voters to be educated on the issue and to show lawmakers that Ohioans demand our government acknowledge the right to life of all people from conception,” Legislative Liaison for the CCV Nilani Jawahar told The Star.
The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Ohio State Capitol Square, facing South High Street. The Capitol building is at 1 Capitol Sq., Columbus, Ohio. The rally will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the march beginning at 12:00 p.m. The event will conclude at 1:00 p.m.
According to Ohio Right to Life, participants in the march have an incredible opportunity to show lawmakers that Ohio wants an end of abortion.
“This march will be an opportunity to showcase to our country that not only does Ohio believe in the right to life for all humans, but we hold the courage to stand on our values and speak out on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves. Elected Officials will be reminded that Ohioans are undeniably pro-life and abortion has no home here in the Buckeye State,” Ohio Right to Life Director of Communications Elizabeth Marbach said in a statement.
The March will include a pre-rally concert, pro-life speakers, and provide resources to assist Ohio women, children, and families.
March for Life encourages participants to bring their own hand-held signs to the event. The Ohio Capitol regulations do not permit signs on sticks on it’s premises. This is a free public event that is open to all pro-life supporters, and does not require registration. Individuals can find parking options around the Ohio Statehouse at ohiostatehouse.org.
The Ohio March for Life encourages event participants to contact their legislators in the months before the march to make their voices heard that Ohio wants an end to abortion.
“For 50 years, we have been marching with the mission to end abortion by uniting, educating, and mobilizing pro-life people in the public square. Our vision at the March for Life is a world where the beauty and dignity of every human life are valued and protected. Ending abortion in America – and Ohio – will take the effort of every single pro-life person. Each of us must commit to making a difference for the pro-life cause. Together we march to end abortion, and we will,” Mancini told The Star.
March for Life told The Star that it would announce more details as the date approaches.
