Cuyahoga County Republican Party Appoints Emily Moreno Miller and Mike Gibbons as Committee Leadership

Following the notice of resignation of Executive Committee Chairman Henry F Curtis, the Republican Party of Cuyahoga County announced two changes in committee leadership.

On January 5th, Curtis submitted his resignation to the party citing the need for fresh leadership.

“There comes a time when we take on new challenges and must pass the torch to the next generation. With this in mind, I have resigned as the Executive Committee Chairman,” Curtis said.

Curtis served as chairman of the Executive Committee for a year and a half and headed the Election Integrity Committee. He formerly worked for 15 years at the Board of Elections and with the Secretary of State in various roles.

One week after Curtis’ formal resignation the Cuyahoga County GOP announced Emily Moreno Miller as his replacement.

According to party Chairman Lisa Stickan, Miller is a native of Cuyahoga with vast campaign experience. She recently worked on campaigns in Ohio after serving on former President Donald Trump‘s re-election campaign.

As the leader of the executive committee, Miller will work closely with party donors and help appoint one of the two Republican members to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.

“I am fortunate to gain Emily as a partner as the Party looks ahead to new challenges. The party has relied on her tremendously throughout the last year, and we are happy to welcome her more formally to our operation,” Stickan said.

Miller said she considers it an honor to join the leadership team of the Cuyahoga County GOP.

“I am honored to be joining the leadership team of the hometown county party that stoked my enthusiasm for politics. It is critical that Cuyahoga County Party protect the gains made by President Donald J. Trump in Ohio while not marginalizing voters that are fed up with the political noise constantly parroted by the likes of local media,” Miller said.

Former Republican Party Central Committee Finance Chairman Irwin Haber supports Stickan’s decision saying Miller is the best person for the job.

“I cannot think of a more qualified and timely Executive Committee Chairman for the Cuyahoga Party than Emily Moreno Miller. Her campaign experience will bring a hunger to win back in a county that has seeded too much ground to liberal activists,” Haber said.

On Monday, the Republican Party of Cuyahoga County announced that Mike Gibbons will replace outgoing Finance Committee Chairman Michael Canty. A spokesman told The Ohio Star that the party is replacing Canty as part of their general process of cycling through leadership every 2-4 years.

Canty was the former Bentleyville Mayor from 2000-2007 and is president of Alloy Bellows & Precision Welding Inc. of Highland Heights with over 35 years of business experience.

Gibbons grew up in Parma and Cleveland. In 1989 Gibbons launched what is now known as Brown Gibbons Lang & Company. In 2020 and 2018 Mike Gibbons ran for U.S. Senate, and in 2016 Gibbons served as Ohio Finance Co-Chair for Donald J. Trump.

As the Republican Party of Cuyahoga County Finance Chair, Gibbons will work alongside Stickan and Miller to build a war chest for the county party.

“I am up for the challenge in the difficult county here. All races, from governor down to school board, are important to me. Under this new leadership the small races will start seeing big investments,” Gibbons said.

Ambassador Edward Crawford applauded the party’s appointment of Gibbons.

“Chairmen Stickan and Miller are fortunate to be gaining Mike Gibbons in the role as Finance Chairman. As a son of Parma he is a relentless worker and we need that determination leading the finance efforts at the Party. This leadership has my full support and financial backing as it charts the pathway to bringing conservative changes to Cuyahoga County,” Crawford said.
