Hollywood Goes to Bat Against Ohio Constitutional Carry Bill

A Hollywood actor and internet activist has vowed to fight against Ohio’s HB 227, a constitutional carry bill that would allow residents of the state to exercise their Second Amendment rights more freely.

“House Bill 227 in Ohio would ‘allow a licensee to carry concealed all deadly weapons that would otherwise be legal to possess, remove the requirement of a licensed gun owner to ‘promptly’ notify police of a gun in their car and allow anyone 21 and older to carry a concealed deadly weapon without a license,’” Goerge Takei said on his Facebook page.

“I stand with Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence and States United to Prevent Gun Violence in their efforts to prevent this dangerous bill from passing,” he continued.

Takei is most notable for playing the character Sulu on “Star Trek.”

He now spends his time championing left-wing causes, especially on Twitter, and was one of that website’s loudest voices against former President Donald J. Trump.

There is no evidence to suggest that constitutional carry bills are “dangerous,” or that those who carry concealed firearms are more likely to commit gun crimes than those who do not. Such bills simply remove licensure requirements for gun owners who wish to conceal their firearms. They also allow for optional licensure for carrying concealed firearms in other states where such licensure is required.

HB 227 was introduced on March 23 and is awaiting action in the House Government Oversight Committee.

Republican lawmakers in the state are looking to join their fellow legislatures in GOP-controlled states like Tennessee, whose state House passed a constitutional carry bill earlier this week.

State Rep. Jena Powell (R-Arcanum) cosponsored HB 227.

“Article 1, Section 4 of the Ohio Constitution states that Ohioans have the right to bear arms for their defense and security,” she told The Daily Advocate. “It’s my priority to protect law-abiding Ohioans’ ability to practice their constitutional rights.”

Hollywood can butt out of my right to defend myself from a criminal who may have lethal intentions youve got your commifornia be happy with that you can watch the population of commiefornia decline because no one is allowed to defend themselves with a reasonably effective PDW

Goerge Takei does not speak for me or anyone I know. He is a has been Hollywood person trying to be relevant again. Stay in California and leave the midwest alone.

With all of the mass shotings that keep happing. With all of the violence and racial prejudice that has been stirred up in the last few years. It is just commen sence not to relax gun regulations. I do realize that plain commen sence is more and more Un-commen. But if we ever are to become one nation , we need to stop the violence and consentrate on helping each other instead of trying to make guns more accessable.

George who? I thought this clown was kidnapped by the Klingons.

Another nut case liberal lying to Americans.

If he speaks for hollywood (the word doesn’t deserve to be capitalized) this is my response.
How many times have you scrolled through a list of movies trying to find something to watch during dinner on the couch. My wife and I are finished eating before we can find anything worth watching. Image after image portraying a scantly clad woman or some daring man flashing a gun to sensationalize killing and firearms. No wonder there is a mental health crisis in young Americans.
And as to their continual spouting off about how stupid we are for our way of life. They are so out of touch with reality they have no grounds to be pontificating to anyone. During the 50s they were in bed with the Communists, in the 21st century they are in bed with the Communist Chinese. If China invades America, you can be sure that the Left Coast and hollywood will roll out the red carpet and welcome them to shore.
