New Poll: Mike Gibbons Leading Race for Ohio GOP Nomination for U.S. Senate

Mike Gibbons, a Republican businessman and candidate for U.S. Senate, is in the lead for the GOP nomination, according to a new poll.

The survey, conducted by polling firm Cygnal, demonstrates that Gibbons, who sits at 16 percent, holds a 3 percent lead over the next closest opponent—former Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel.

The two leaders are trailed by bestselling author JD Vance at 9.5 percent and former Ohio GOP chair Jane Timken at 7.8 percent. Businessman Bernie Moreno and State Senator Matt Dolan followed the pack at 5.8 and 3.4 percent, respectively.

“The latest numbers are in… and we have surged into the lead! I am humbled that a growing number of Ohioans are putting their faith in me to be their next U.S. Senator,” Gibbons tweeted.

In recent weeks, multiple candidates have produced numerous polls that seemingly contradict each other.

Earlier this month, Jane Timken released a poll that contended she, along with Josh Mandel, were the two leaders in the race. Similarly, the Club for Growth, a super PAC supporting Mandel, published an analysis that detailed Mandel is leading all opponents by at least 11 points.

However, Gibbons has poured millions into various components of the race. Previously, he committed $10 million to advertisements alone to compete in the crowded primary.

Recently, the candidate launched a new ad, highlighting his endorsement from Kentucky Senator Rand Paul:

“I’ve stood strong against the mandates of Dr. Fauci, but I need help. That’s why I am endorsing Mike Gibbons for Senate. I’m Rand Paul, I know Mike Gibbons will join me in demanding that Fauci is immediately fired and removed from office. Mike’s a tough businessman, not a politician. Mike Gibbons has the courage to stand with me to defeat the Washington machine,” the senator said in the video.
