Ohio Republican JR Majewski announced on Wednesday his candidacy to run for Ohio’s 9th Congressional District in 2024. U.S. Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH-09) is currently in that seat and is serving her 21st term in Congress.
Majewski, from Port Clinton, ran for election to the U.S. House to represent Ohio’s 9th Congressional District against Kaptur in the general election in November 2022. He lost to Kaptur but gained 43 percent of the vote.
According to Majewski, this campaign is about putting America first and flipping Ohio’s 9th District Republican.
“This campaign it’s about the working class citizens of Ohio, this campaign is about putting America first, and this campaign is about fighting for you,” Majewski said.
Majewski is an Air Force veteran who has managed multiple multi-million-dollar projects within the nuclear industry and earned a reputation for his leadership style and ability to transform struggling projects, programs, and portfolios into high performers. Majewski now serves as a senior leader in the nuclear industry, working with some of the world’s largest nuclear utilities.
The Trump-backed conservative candidate Majewski gained notoriety in the months before the general election after the Associated Press claimed that Majewski had misrepresented his military service.
The Associated Press claimed that Majewski never deployed to Afghanistan as he depicted himself and instead completed a six-month stint loading planes at an air base in Qatar.
Majewski refuted claims that he made up information concerning his military service. Majewski claimed that he frequently flew in and out of the area while serving abroad. He worked to load aircraft before landing at other locations to transfer cargo and passengers.
According to Majewski, Kaptur spent millions of dollars lying about his military career so she could maintain her long-held congressional seat.
“You see Marcy Kaptur, I like to call corrupt Kaptur, was recently exposed. She was caught spending millions of dollars lying about my military career. I’m proud to stand with the truth and I’m proud that my record has been vindicated and I’m proud to be stronger than ever in my fight alongside you against the corrupt elite class of Washington D.C.,” Majewski said.
Majewski said that in 2024 Republicans will win in Ohio’s 9th District.
“In 2022, we started a movement. While Kaptur ran one of the most dishonest campaigns in history, we came closer flipping OH09 than anyone has in 41yrs. This time we win,” Majewski said.
Recently, a number of Republican officials from northwest Ohio have declared their candidacy to run against Kaptur in 2024, including Steve Lankenau, a former mayor of Napoleon; Dan Wilczynski, a former mayor of Walbridge; and Craig Riedel, a former state representative from Defiance.
Reports state that Kaptur has already filed the paperwork necessary for candidacy in the November 2024 race for Ohio’s 9th Congressional District 9.
