Although her political committee, Friends of Ashley Moody, has already begun fundraising, Florida Attorney General Moody recently announced an event that will officially kick off her reelection campaign for 2022.
The 90-minute event – which can be found on eventbrite.com – will be on September 28th, and held in the Grand Ballroom of TPepin Hospitality Centre in Tampa.
While the event is to launch Moody’s campaign and a ticket to the event is free, it is essentially meant to be a fundraising event. According to the event page, the maximum contribution payable to the Ashley Moody Campaign is $3,000 per individual or business entity. However, there is no contribution limit on checks made payable to Friends of Ashley Moody, who also can accept contributions made by both individuals and business entities.
Moody officially announced her reelection campaign in early September, but her political committee had already started fundraising. In a report by The Florida Capital Star regarding all statewide candidates’ campaign finance reports for August, it states, “Attorney General Ashley Moody’s committee, Friends of Ashley Moody, raised nearly $196,000 in August and had approximately $2.27 million of cash on hand.”
As far as COVID-19 protocols, the event website states, “If you are currently experiencing COVID symptoms or if you have come into contact with someone that tested positive for COVID in the last 14 days please do not come to the event. Masks and hand sanitizer will be available.”
To obtain a ticket to attend Moody’s kickoff event, an individual must register through Eventbrite by midnight on Friday.
The amount of funds that Moody has raised is only rivaled by the fundraising pace of DeSantis, whose political committee, Friends of Ron DeSantis, has raised approximately $46 million in the last eight months, and has $53 million cash on hand.
Currently, Moody has no opposition.
