Biden and Harris to Stump for Warnock, Ossoff in Georgia Ahead of Senate Runoffs

Democratic candidates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will visit Georgia to support the Senate election runoff candidates, Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, next week.

Biden and Harris will arrive in the days preceding the runoff elections, according to a press release from their team. Harris will precede Biden by a day, showing up to Savannah on Sunday. Biden will arrive on Monday in Atlanta.

Both Biden and Harris visited car rallies in Georgia earlier this month to support the two Democratic Senate candidates. Biden stumped for Ossoff and Warnock previously over two weeks ago. Harris last came down to Georgia a little over a week ago.

Harris tweeted the announcement of her and Biden’s impending visit on Wednesday morning.

“Georgia – @JoeBiden and I are headed your way soon ahead of the Senate runoffs,” wrote Harris. “It is within your power to change the course of our country’s history but we need you to get out and vote. What we did in November, we can do it again.”

Yes, Every Kid

Harris’s announcement came weeks after President Donald Trump first announced his rally for incumbent Senators David Perdue (R-GA) and Kelly Loeffler (R-GA). The president will be in Dalton on January 4 – the eve of the election runoffs.

Nearly 2.6 million early votes have been cast as of Wednesday, according to the secretary of state’s office. Due to reported strains on the counties, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and county election officials have requested that the general assembly reform the no-excuse absentee ballot request rule.

Several weeks after announcing a statewide signature matching audit, Raffensperger’s office stated that their Cobb County audit confirmed that near-perfect signature matching had taken place.

Early voting is underway currently in Georgia, and ends on Friday. The election date for the runoffs is January 5.
