Former Georgia U.S. Representative and Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich endorsed Mike Collins in the GOP primary to represent Georgia’s 10th Congressional District.

The seat, which Collins is aiming for, is being vacated by Congressman Jody Hice (R-GA-10). Hice, instead of running for reelection to Congress, has decided to launch a primary challenge attempt against embattled Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

“Mike is a conservative outsider who will always put America First, no matter what the D.C. special interests and insiders want. He can be trusted to fight for Georgia families, protect our Second Amendment rights and to keep our elections safe and secure,” Gingrich said as his reason for the endorsement.

Gingrich represented Georgia in Congress for approximately two decades.

“Mike will oppose the radical Biden/Pelosi agenda and stand up against the Socialist Squad. We can count on him to stand by his conservative principles and always fight for us and Georgia values,” Gingrich continued.

Like Gingrich, Collin’s father represented Georgia in the House of Representatives. He served during the “Republican Revolution” during the 1990s.

“I’m humbled and honored by Newt’s endorsement. His record of fighting for Americans and Georgians is unmatched, and he was a conservative trailblazer and a hero of mine. I will never back down to the Radical Left and DC special interests, and I will always put the good people of the 10th Congressional District first,” Collins said of the endorsement.

In his campaign, Collins has pledged to be a “conservative outsider.”

“I’m pro-Trump, pro-life and will protect our Second Amendment rights. I won’t bow to the woke mob’s cancel culture or Nancy Pelosi’s job-killing, gun-grabbing agenda,” he said earlier in the year when announcing his campaign
