The Georgia House of Representatives’ House Governmental Affairs Committee arranged another election fraud hearing for Wednesday morning.
Apart from issuing a brief press release sharing a time, date, and vague purpose for the hearing, the committee didn’t share any further explanation for calling the meeting or who would testify.
“The committee will continue to work to ensure the security and efficiency of the January 2021 Senate runoff and future elections,” read the press release.
The committee also announced that it created a specific email to receive reports of voting irregularities: [email protected].
The committee’s previous hearing was held nearly two weeks ago. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and his office both declined to testify during the hearing, citing advice from their legal counsel.
However, some have claimed that Raffensperger would testify during this second hearing. Those sources also claimed that those testifying would include the state’s Voting System Implementation Manager Gabriel Sterling, Elections Division Director Chris Harvey, and General Counsel Ryan Germany. Raffensperger hasn’t issued any statements on the matter.
The Georgia State Senate Election Law Subcommittee Chairman, State Senator William T. Ligon (R-White Oak), issued a report that condemned the election results as “untrustworthy.” Ligon’s report accounted for the information offered by the recounts, audits, investigations, and December 3 open hearing.
Spokespersons for the committee chair didn’t respond to The Georgia Star News request for comment by press time.
Monday evening, the Republican Party of Georgia (GOP) State Executive Committee issued an emergency resolution calling for Raffensperger to begin a signature matching audit for Fulton County. According to Georgia GOP Chairman David Shafer, the committee criticized Raffensperger’s promised statewide audit. They alleged that procedures such as utilizing college students to conduct the audit would “further undermine public confidence in Georgia elections.”
The hearing will take place at 9 a.m. EST, which will be live-streamed to the public.
