In a new poll released by Grassroots Targeting on Monday, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Herschel Walker leads Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) by 10 percentage points.
Walker leads Warnock by 10.4 percentage points or 51.4 percent to 41 percent in the poll.
Grassroots Targeting says that the poll, “shows the dominant position that Herschel Walker maintains over Raphael Warnock in the race for U.S. Senate. Voters will see the clear dichotomy between Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker; one who only does what he is told by his Democrat leaders at the detriment to Georgians, while the other who understands Georgians’ struggles and will work to bring normality back into their lives.”
“To make matters worse for Warnock, his campaign has spent over $7 million to date this year on paid television advertisement alone – and remains double-digits down in a hypothetical race with Herschel Walker (51.4% – 41.0%) before any of the tested issue messages are employed,” the polling outfit added. “Barring a monumental shift in the political landscape, Herschel Walker is in prime position to be the next United States senator from the state of Georgia.”
Warnock has an approval rating of 45.2 percent and on the generic Republican-versus-Democrat ballot, the GOP has a polling lead of nearly 12 percentage points, 51.9 percent to 40 percent.
Biden’s approval rating is underwater by negative 10.8 percent, with 41.9 percent of respondents approving of his job performance and 52.7 percent disapproving.
In a memo the polling group explained the poll methodology, saying, “Grassroots Targeting conducted a Georgia statewide microtargeting project with 2,500 interviews of registered voters across Georgia from April 3 – April 16, 2022, with 60% live landline interviews, 20% cell phone and 20% text (SMS to Web). The results were then modeled across the entire Georgia voter file of 7,653,371 voters.”
The Georgia Star News previously reported that Walker led Democrat in Warnock in a poll 49 percent to 45 percent that was released on Wednesday, April 6.
That poll was conducted by Emerson College Polling/The Hill.
Walker must first get through the May 24 GOP primary. However, due to his fundraising and polling in that contest, he is expected to win easily and face Warnock in November. Walker leads all other GOP candidates in the most recent polls by over 50 percentage points.
