U.S. Senate Candidate Herschel Walker Raises Nearly $5.2 Million in First Three Months of 2022

FEC reporting shows that the former President Donald Trump-endorsed candidate for the U.S. Senate in Georgia, former NFL star athlete Herschel Walker has raised over $5 million for the 2022 Federal Election Commission first-quarter reporting period.

The FEC first-quarter reporting period covers January 1 through March 31 time period.

That brings Walker’s fundraising total for the 2022 cycle to $14,304,008.30. His campaign has a war chest of $7,422,031.34 cash on hand.

Before he faces off with Democrat incumbent U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock in November, Walker must first win the GOP primary that is scheduled to take place on May 24.

Polling and fundraising appear to make a Walker/Warnock matchup a virtual certainty.

The Georgia Star News recently reported that two new polls show Walker with massive leads in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate.

In a poll performed by the SPIAA Survey Research Center and released by the University of Georgia, Walker has a 56.6 percent lead over his closest competitor, 64.3 percent to 7.7 percent with 23.9 percent undecided. When the poll participants are reminded that Trump has endorsed Walker, his lead margin grows to 68.5 percent over the nearest rival, 76 percent to 7.5 percent with 14.7 percent undecided.

In another recent poll that was released by Landmark Communications, Inc./WGCL-TV and conducted on April 14, Walker attained at 64.2 percent support, a lead of 55.4 percent with 14 percent undecided. That poll had 660 participants and a margin of error of 3.8%.

The Star News also reported that Walker leads Warnock in a hypothetical general election matchup. In an Emerson College Polling/The Hill poll, Walker has a four percentage point lead, 49 percent to 45 percent. That is the most recent poll listed on RealClearPolitics. The RCP polling average shows Walker ahead by 1.6%.

However, aside from the Emerson College/The Hill poll, the rest of the polls included in the listing could be considered outdated. Two polls are from January 2022, one from August 2021, and one is from March 2021.

In addition to \Trump’s backing, Walker has received support from all corners, including at least 14 U.S. senators.

In late March, the Walker campaign trumpeted the endorsements of U.S. senators Ted Cruz, Bill Hagerty, and Tommy Tuberville.

Cruz said of his endorsement, “I’m proud to endorse Herschel Walker for U.S. Senate in Georgia. Herschel is a fighter who will work to protect our Constitution, secure our borders, and fight to make America energy independent again.”

“Pleased to endorse Herschel Walker for U.S. Senate,” said Hagerty. “I may be from the great state of Tennessee, but I know that we can’t get America back on track without a patriot & friend in the Senate from Georgia. Join me in supporting Team Herschel.”

Tuberville simply said, “Winners win.”
