Per the Code of the Commonwealth of Virginia, all campaigns must have their Campaign Finance Report filed with the State Board of Elections by 11:59PM Thursday. These reports give voters a behind-the-scenes look on how candidates run their campaigns, who is giving them money, and how the candidates are spending their campaign cash.
According to public reports available as of press time, former Carlyle Group CEO Glenn Youngkin has out-raised the Republican field for Governor. Youngkin filed a sizable return, reporting $7.6 million in raised funds. However, he did not post yet how much cash on hand (COH) he has. Former New Media Strategies CEO and Youngkin’s main opponent Pete Snyder, meanwhile, raised $6.4 million – but also with no report yet on his cash on hand.

Governor Terry Mcauliffe led the Democratic field for Governor with a $4.1 million raised, $1.27 million spent, and $8.5 million COH. No other Democrat has filed their numbers yet – however former Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy stated to Forbes that she raised $1.6 million.

In the GOP field for Lieutenant Governor, former Delegate Tim Hugo (R-Fairfax) leads the field with $198k raised, with $94k spent, and $103k COH. But more that $90k of that total was a transfer from Delegate Hugo’s House of Delegates campaign to his Lieutenant Governor campaign, which is permissible by the Virginia code.
Former Delegate Winsome Sears (R-Winchester) raised $191k, but quickly burned through $121k, leaving Sears with $64k COH. Puneet Ahluwalia raised $28K while burning $27k, leaving him with $1k COH. Unknown candidate Maeve Rigler ended with $0 COH. Delegate Glenn Davis (R-Virginia Beach) and Lance Allen have not reported to the SBE. All GOP candidates were out-raised by the Democrats in the field.
Delegate Jason Miyares led the Republican field for Attorney General, with $230K raised, but no report about COH. Chuck Smith raised $137K, with $141K spent, with $31k COH. Chesterfield County Supervisor Leslie Haley raised $119k, spent $52K, with $67K COH – but neither Democrat for Attorney General has filed as of press time.
