TRUMPDATE: Latest from the Team Trump Virginia Campaign for September 21

by Jordan Bondurant

Welcome to another Monday edition of our daily Virginia Trump campaign update! We will provide our readers with daily updates on the Trump Virginia campaign from today to November 3 (and after…if need be!).

It’s officially 43 days until the election on November 3 – and 8 days until President Trump and Joe Biden square off in the first presidential debate.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away Friday after a lengthy battle with cancer. As many across the nation mourn the loss of Ginsburg as a more liberal feminist icon, the focus for the Trump administration shifts to who will fill the new vacancy. President Trump has the opportunity to make his third nomination for the nation’s highest court. Justices Neil M. Gorsuch and Brett M. Kavanaugh were previously nominated by President Trump, and successfully confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate. The president and some Republicans are optimistic they’ll be able to have a nominee confirmed before the upcoming election, while others, including Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski, want to see Ginsburg’s replacement come after the election.

This is a chance to ensure more conservative justices are seated on the court, and successfully confirming a new justice just prior to the election would be a key victory for the president just before the majority of the nation heads to the polls.

Working Hard in Virginia

There are no marquee events slated to take place in Virginia this week at this time, but that doesn’t mean that Team Trump Virginia is taking the week off.

Yes, Every Kid

According to Samantha Cotten, Regional Communications Director for the Trump campaign, Team Trump Virginia will be in a neighborhood near you or giving you a call.

“We’re recruiting volunteers and making sure we’re contacting voters,” Cotten said. “We’re continuing to mobilize, knocking on doors, doing what we can in Virginia.”

Echoing the sentiments of RNC co-chair Tommy Hicks, who told The Virginia Star recently that the Commonwealth is in play for President Trump, Cotten said the Team Trump campaign isn’t overlooking the importance of the race in Virginia.

“We’re taking Virginia very seriously,” she said. “We’re leaving no stone unturned. Our ground game is definitely what differentiates us from the Biden campaign.”

In addition to the work Team Trump Virginia is doing here, the national Team Trump campaign is going to continue dominating the digital space this week with a number of online broadcasts available to view live for free.

President Trump will be speaking at campaign events in Ohio today, and tomorrow Vice President Pence will be speaking in New Hampshire. Events will stream on Team Trump’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, on the Donald J. Trump Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch accounts, and at www.donaldjtrump.com/online.
