Live from Music Row Friday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – official guest host Aaron Gulbransen welcomed Mark Walters creator of Armed American Radio and Armed American News talks about rotating Democrat talking points, failures in gun control, and their end game to ban all firearms from American citizens.
Gulbransen: We have on our newsmaker line, Mark Walters of Armed American Radio. Welcome to the show, Mark.
Walters: Hey, Aaron. Thanks for having me. Good morning.
Gulbransen: Did I get you up early enough? Did you get your cup of coffee? I know I’m having mine as we speak.
Walters: Aaron. I’m on my third cup. As you can imagine, I’ve been up pretty early in the last few days, rarely sleep anyway. Not a problem. I’m glad to be with you today. Thank you very much.
Gulbransen: Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I want to cut right to the chase on this. Well, actually, real briefly because I want to get into the larger issue. Tell everybody who hasn’t heard of Armed American Radio what you do and your kind of background real quick. Yeah.
Walters: Thanks for the opportunity. I host two nationally syndicated radio broadcasts now, and it’s in its 14th year, Armed American Radio, which can be heard on hundreds of radio stations around the country.
Armed American Radio’s program airs on Sunday, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific for 14 years on 200 plus radio stations.
And my daily show, Armed American Radio: Daily Defense, Monday through Friday, 4 p.m.to 6 p.m. Eastern, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Pacific Time, and has been on the air for about seven years. So we cover a lot of ground.
And I also own a news division called Armed American News. So people can visit me and learn more about the show and where to hear and listen and read about the news. We separate news from opinion at armedamericannews.com and armedamericanradio.com for all the information.
Gulbransen: Well, you and I need to become like really good friends offline.
Walters: I think we just did. Yeah, I think we just did, too.
Gulbransen: I’m a big Second Amendment advocate, and we can discuss this stuff. My wife and I enjoy our time at the range and all that. So the larger issue right now is it’s like the merry go around.
So two weeks ago it was, oh, bans off our bodies, protests, blah, blah, blah. The Left wants their abortion. Now, something happens and a major tragedy, a sad thing we can’t understand that enough.
But now the Democrats again go back to their greatest hits on guns and they want to take the guns away. In two weeks, they’ll go back to abortion or so whenever the leaked Supreme Court draft becomes official.
So what the Biden administration is talking about right now on the gun issue and what they’re looking to do both in the near future and in the long term future?
Walters: We’ve been trying as gun rights at because I’m also a member of the board of directors of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms for many years. And we’ve been trying to get the Left to admit what it is they want to do.
Aaron, you and I both know what that is, but they hide behind cloaking the language with these ridiculous phrases. We need new common-sense gun safety measures. We know what that means. That means gun control.
We know that that means confiscation of firearms. And some of them are out saying that now. And I would have more respect for them, in fact, if they would just come out and tell us exactly what it is they want to do.
But when we saw Biden with the political grandstanding the other night, I was not surprised. I expected it, but I was surprised because it was so bold. But I expected it, so I wasn’t surprised.
I think you know where I’m going with that. And we hear Chuck Schumer doing the same thing, talking about we need to do something. Yet they never propose anything because there is no law that will stop evil, period.
And if you simply want to put them in the deer, make them look like deer in the headlights. When, for example, Schumer mentioned a list of mass shootings, by the way, I don’t know if you noticed, he conveniently left out the Democrat that shot up the Republicans at the ball field.
That was left out, et cetera. He left out the killings that equal a Uvalde or a New Town or a Parkland combined in Chicago every single week. The body count piles up for decades. So when you have all of this and they leave this information out, they’re clearly pushing this one political agenda, which Schumer did.
And I would love it if somebody when he walked outside under armed escort, I might add, outside of the Capitol, if somebody from the AP or the Washington Post or one of the liberal left-wing rags would have said to him, sir, of all the shootings you just mentioned, can you name one gun control measure that stopped them?
And of course, the answer is none, because they fail, because gun control is an utter failure. And when he responds that none stopped him, we need more to ask him specifically which law a killer or evil will follow.
That wasn’t on the books, because there aren’t any. And they know that. And the reason that they push for this right now, is you’re going to start hearing a lot about banning the AR-15.
Elon Musk put a proposal out. We need to license people and heavily vet people that want that particular rifle. Elon Musk does not understand the Second Amendment.
Gulbransen: No, I caution conservatives because this is what the problem that conservatives tend to do. And Republicans in general, if somebody comes along and says one thing that we agree with and then all of a sudden we lionize them for a while until they say something we don’t.
And that’s what Elon Musk just did. He’s not the Messiah. He’s a decent guy trying to make his way, but he doesn’t have all the issues.
Walters: So anyway, and unfortunately, people will listen to him because he’s making a lot of waves publicly. He’s doing some great things with Twitter. I applaud him for that but he doesn’t have any idea what he’s talking about with the Second Amendment.
And I guess the bottom line of where I’m going with this we could go on and on and on about this is we know what the Democrats want to do.
We know when they grandstand about new laws that it’s just a start. They tell us that. And they are always asking the conservatives or the Republicans to come to the table with them to compromise.
Compromise our beliefs, not compromise theirs, but fall in line with them, which is an utter failure. There are no new laws. We’ve got to start with where we are.
There are hundreds of millions of guns in this country that are not going away. This country has always had more guns than people and this is a fairly recent phenomenon that I didn’t have to contend with when I was a child in school.
Why is that? And as far as the schools are concerned, we’re getting very disturbing reports now about an hour long police wait for the response to get into that school before the border patrol tactical team went in and killed this guy.
Again, I’m going to reserve on that I’m not going to be quick to jump law enforcement because these are fluid, dynamic situations but the information that’s coming out is disturbing.
The fact of the matter is we know what we can do to fix these things. And that’s to keep our school safe is not a difficult process.
Use the same techniques that the politicians use to protect themselves that athletes use to protect themselves and like that loudmouth, Steve Kerr who walk around with armed security used to protect him.
Concert venues, buildings, banks. It’s not difficult to figure out. But for some reason, the Democrats want nothing to do with it. But we know why. Because that’s not their end game. That doesn’t fit their agenda. It’s literally the banning of firearms from American civilians.
