Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson Joins Resolution Calling for Action on Border Crisis, Crime Spike

Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) joined a resolution introduced by his Republican colleagues in the Senate to call on President Joe Biden to take action on both border security and a spike in crime across the country.

Wisconsin has been subjected to a wave of violent crime that has included riots, a mass attack on a Christmas parade, and an arson attack on a pro-life group.

“Rising crime, especially violent crime, in the United States poses a threat to the national interest, as well as to the safety and security of individuals, communities, businesses, law enforcement officers, and the rule of law,” a section of  the resolution reads.

Johnson has routinely criticized Biden for his lack of action on the pressing issues. In addition to this absence, Biden is attempting to lift Title 42, a move that could allow a new wave of migrants to enter the country.

Previously, Johnson and Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05) introduced a measure to block the Biden administration’s plan for the asylum process.

The provision would prevent asylum requests from being handled by  U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officials.

“The Biden administration is sending a clear message: our borders are open, you will not be kept in custody, and you will not have to see a judge to stay here. In a time where we surpassed 2 million illegal crossings at the southern border last year and are on track for even more this year, the proposed rule will only lead to more illegal migration for an already overwhelmed immigration system. We strongly oppose the Biden administration’s reckless attempt to unconstitutionally rewrite the asylum laws in America. The changes the administration is proposing cannot come from unelected bureaucrats, but rather from Congress. I thank my colleagues for joining in this effort,” said Sen. Johnson.
