Wisconsin politicians and abortion organizations took to Twitter to ask state legislators to pass the Abortion Rights Preservation Act on Saturday, which was the 49th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade court decision.
A Better Wisconsin, a self-proclaimed research and communications organization for progressives, tweeted out, “Together, we must ensure that abortions are legal and safe for ALL who seek one.”
Today is the 49th anniversary of Roe v Wade!
We are thankful for the activists who have worked tirelessly to get us here and stand united with Americans across the nation who are fighting for more. Together, we must ensure that abortions are legal and safe for ALL who seek one. pic.twitter.com/jTLkOZJGZI

Abortion advocates are concerned about the future of abortion as the United States Supreme Court will be making a landmark decision this summer that could overturn the Roe v. Wade ruling.
The Wisconsin Daily Star reported that the court will make a decision regarding Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which deals with Mississippi’s abortion law that prohibits abortions after 15 weeks. Oral arguments were heard in December and a ruling is expected in June of this year.
A decision like that would set a precedent that could lead to the ending of the Roe era.
Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin echoed A Better Wisconsin on Twitter.
“The most important step our elected officials can take to protect access to abortion care in Wisconsin is to repeal this criminal abortion ban by passing the Abortion Rights Preservation Act,” the company tweeted.
Abortion could become illegal in WIsconsin if we do not pass the Abortion Rights Preservation Act to repeal this criminal abortion ban.

The Wisconsin Democrat Party also issued a statement, “Reproductive rights are human rights, and we’ll do everything to protect them.”

Wisconsin State Senate Democrats called upon constituents to take action. The group said, “Before abortion was legal and safe, illegal abortions caused at least 1 in 6 pregnancy-related deaths. Call your legislators at 1-800-362-9472 and tell them to vote for the Abortion Rights Preservation Act!”

Wisconsin Representative Gwen Moore (D-WI-04) also used the day to call legislators to protect the Roe decision. She described her own abortion as a “traumatizing experience.” Moore said before Roe she obtained an abortion in New York through private funding.
Before Roe, women in Wisconsin would collect money to help poor women get an abortion in NY. It covered an airplane ticket & the care.
Bc of this fund, I could have an abortion.
I still remember clearly. It was the first time I had been to NY, so it was a lot to take in. (1/3)

Moore said, “Reproductive rights are being threatened by extremist politicians wanting to control women’s bodies.”
