Arizona Democratic Party Censures Senator Sinema over Filibuster Stance

The Arizona Democratic Party executive committee approved a resolution on Saturday to censure Senator Krysten Sinema (D-AZ) because of her stance on the filibuster in the U.S. Senate.

Because of the long-standing rule that requires a 60 vote-threshold to advance certain pieces of legislation, Democrats were unable to advance “voting rights” bills.

Sinema and Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) were unwilling to eliminate the rule in order to pass the bills, a move advocated by progressive Democrats and President Joe Biden.

The move by the Arizona Democratic Party formally expresses condemnation by leaders, reflecting widespread anger felt by far-left members of the organization.

“As a party, our job is to support our Democratic candidates, and we appreciate Senator Sinema’s leadership in passing the American Rescue Plan and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. However, we are also here to advocate for our constituents and the ramifications of failing to pass federal legislation that protects their right to vote are too large and far-reaching. While we take no pleasure in this announcement, the ADP Executive Board has decided to formally censure Senator Sinema as a result of her failure to do whatever it takes to ensure the health of our democracy,” ADP chair Raquel Terán said in a statement. ”

The frustration with Sinema, who is honoring her campaign pledge to serve as an independent, has been felt outside of the state. Representative Jamaal Bowen (D-NY-16) labeled the Arizona legislator a “traitor.”

The Arizona lawmaker is often compared to her counterpart, Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ). Like Sinema, he campaigned on serving the state as an independent. However, he has continuously voted with Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on controversial issues, refusing to take a stand against his own party.

She needs to become a republican or an independent. If she becomes a republican she would be easily re elected.

Hang in there Senator. Don’t give in to your party’s traitors.
