Kari Lake Celebrates Momentum as New Poll Shows Her in Lead over Opponent Hobbs

The Trafalgar Group recently unveiled new survey results involving the Arizona governor seat race, showing Trump-endorsed Kari Lake with a slight lead over her gubernatorial rival, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs (D).

“Katie Hobbs had every advantage heading into this race after she faced an easy primary. Instead, despite a tough GOP primary, Kari Lake has seized the lead before Labor Day,” said the Lake campaign in a press release. “Katie Hobbs is simply too much of a Biden-supporting liberal extremist for Arizona. Our campaign will only continue to build on this momentum as Republicans keep uniting around Kari Lake, and Arizonans learn more about her plans to put Arizona First, fix our economy and secure the border.”

In the survey, the Trafalgar Group reached out to likely 2022 Arizona general election voters and received 1,074 responses. Of respondents, 46.5 percent shared support for Lake, giving her less than a 1 percent lead over Hobbs, who received 45.8 percent. Only 5 percent of respondents said they were still undecided about their vote.

The Kari Lake War Room shared a statement of confidence following the survey’s release.

“Arizona will reject @katiehobbs history of radicalism and incompetence,” the Kari Lake War Room tweeted. “We feel confident that as people get to know the real Katie Hobbs, @KariLake‘s lead will only grow.”

The Republicans for National Renewal responded to the survey by saying Lake is going to “win big” and that they are looking forward to “Arizona having the best governor in the nation.”

Don Huffines of the Huffines Liberty Foundation in Texas also spoke favorably of Lake’s chances, saying that leftists are “panicking” because she can win and that a patriot is needed to fix the invasion at the southern border.

Lake has run an aggressive campaign against Hobbs. In a statement, Lake called Hobbs “the most progressive, dangerous candidate to ever run for Arizona governor” and that she would make California governor Gavin Newsom look “mild & minor” in comparison.

Furthermore, the survey also showed the current standings for the Arizona Senate race, with Democrat incumbent Mark Kelly holding a slight 3 percent lead over Trump-endorsed nominee Blake Masters. Only 3 percent of respondents were still unsure about this race.

The Arizona Sun Times reached out to the Masters’ campaign for their reaction to this news but did not receive a quote in time.

However, Republicans took to Twitter and shared support for Masters, including the Lake campaign, which said it would continue to have his back.

“.@bgmasters is in striking distance despite being outspent & slandered,” tweeted Kari Lake War Room. “We will continue to have his back to ensure that Arizona has America First leadership in the United States Senate.”

Saurabh Sharma, President of the American Moment, said Blake is “within the margin of error” from Kelly despite being heavily outspent, but the Republican Party needs to “triple down” in Arizona to secure the Senate.

As reported by The Sun Times, Kelly has spent over $30 million on his campaign as of early July, 10 times the amount Masters had, making him the second-highest spender of all Senate hopefuls in the nation.
