New Ad Knocks Senator Mark Kelly for Lack of Action

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) on Tuesday launched a new ad in Arizona against Senator Mark Kelley (D-AZ).

The Spanish radio ad, which will play in three different city media markets, targets Kelly over his lack of action since taking office earlier this year.

“A border in crisis and out of control, greater insecurity in our communities, we are paying more for food and gasoline.  Everything is more expensive and going up. And now, he even wants to take away our rights as parents over our children’s education,” the ad states. “Mark Kelly has forgotten about Arizona’s working families.”

The new ad from the group comes as President Joe Biden’s approval numbers are reaching their lowest point yet.

“In his first year in office, Mark Kelly has done nothing to help families in Arizona. He supports policies that are causing skyrocketing inflation and a border crisis that is putting Arizonans in harm’s way. Republicans have real solutions, while Democrats like Mark Kelly only add fuel to fire. His failure to fight for the people of Arizona is why he will be defeated next November,” said NRSC Chairman Rick Scott (R-FL).

Opponents of Kelly argue that he is not carrying out actions that he promised on the campaign trail. Specifically, many point to his pledge to remain a more centrist or “independent” Democrat.

However, unlike Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), Kelly has been hesitant to stand up to party leaders and more progressive members on key issues.

“He promised to be independent and instead he’s voting with Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader,” said Blake Masters, a Republican running to take on Kelley. “Sen. Sinema is actually way more interesting.”

Kelly will face the winner of a crowded GOP primary that includes Masters and Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich.
