Four people were killed and nine were injured in a school shooting Wednesday in Georgia, according to authorities.

The shooter had yet to be identified as of Wednesday afternoon.

“I have directed all available state resources to respond to the incident … and urge all Georgians to join my family in praying for the safety of those in our classrooms, both in Barrow County and across the state,” GOP Gov. Brian Kemp said in a statement on X shortly after incident occurred in the morning.

Senior Sergio Caldera, 17, said he first heard gunshots inside the school at 11 a.m., according to ABC News.

“My teacher goes and opens the door to see what’s going on,” he said. “Another teacher comes running in and tells her to close the door because there’s an active shooter.”

Caldera said that he witnessed someone pounding on the classroom door and shouting “open up!” repeatedly. He heard gunshots and screams after the knocking stopped.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and GBI are reportedly at the school.
