Former president Jimmy Carter asserted Friday that President Trump is an “illegitimate” president, and that a full investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election would show that he did not actually defeat Hillary Clinton.
“I think that the interference, though not yet quantified, if fully investigated, it would show that Trump didn’t actually win the election in 2016. He lost the election and he was put in office because the Russians interfered on his behalf,” Carter said at an event hosted by the Carter Center in Leesburg, Va.
Carter also indicated that he believed that Trump was illegitimately elected. After moderator Jon Meacham asked Carter whether he believes Trump is an illegitimate president, the Democrat replied: “Based on what I just said, which I can’t retract, I would say yes.”

The remarks are something of a surprise since Trump and Carter have maintained a cordial relationship despite their ideological differences. Carter praised Trump on June 24 over his decision not to authorize military strikes against Iran.
“I agree with President Trump on his decision not to take military action against Iran,” Carter said at his church in Georgia. “I had a lot of problems with Iran when I was in office.”
Carter also said on May 22, 2018 that he would endorse Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize if his negotiations with North Korea are successful.
Carter, 94, has also defended Trump against attacks from the press, saying that the media has been rougher on the Republican than any other commander-in-chief.
“I think the media have been harder on Trump than any other president certainly that I’ve known about,” Carter said on Oct. 22, 2017. “I think they feel free to claim that Trump is mentally deranged and everything else without hesitation.”

Some people get wiser as they age, but Carter just keeps getting dumber and dumber…and he was never really very bright to begin with.
I guess the mainstream media thinks it’s OK for Carter to have his own set of “alternative facts”. Imagine the outrage if some Republican tried to claim that AOC (or one of the other darlings of the left-wing media (oops, sorry for the redundancy) didn’t really win their election.
The little peanut is trying to make himself relevant. He has never been relevant to my thinking. He is an absolute phony. The Secret Service said he only carried his own bags when there were reporters and cameras around…otherwise he expected the agents to carry them for him as if they were his personal valets. His wife is worse than he is. The reason the Iranians returned our hostages was their absolute fear of President Reagan. If Carter had stayed President the hostages would still be in Iran.
Pretty amazing that one of the worst presidents in history (a nice guy otherwise) would talk about a president that has done more for this country that any president in recent history. So Mr Cater with all due respect go drive a nail and leave politics to the pros
The 2nd worst President is saying this, what a joke!!
Until Jimmy Carter submits to a DNA test, he should really watch his use of the word illegitimate. What a dumb comment he just made.
Jimmy Carter has his nerve criticizing President Trump. Carter was the most inept incompetent President in American history. “I had a lot of problems with Iran when I was in office.” The Iranians played Carter like a fiddle. The military was in such a bad shape that the U.S. couldn’t even muster up two dependable helicopters to rescue the American hostages taken under his watch. Also, does anyone remember that mortgage interest rates were 14%? He was such a hypocrite using religion while he made millions on globalist kickback deals!
I so agree. He didn’t let the Bible get in the way of his politics. Shame on him for not support the president.
Amen.
THE U.S. is in the mess with Iran due to Carter’s failed foreign policy and Trump is the only POTUS with the balls to deal with it!
Dementia has set in for Jimmy.
Of course, being a Democrat, that happened a long time ago.
