Governor Kemp Touts Georgia’s Economic Climate While Meeting with Business Leaders at the Paris Air Show

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is meeting with leaders of aerospace industry companies this week at the Paris Air Show to promote economic development opportunities in the Peach State.

The Paris Air Show, held at Paris–Le Bourget Airport in Paris, France, opened on Monday, June 19 and runs through Sunday, June 25.

Kemp was joined by his wife, First Lady Marty Kemp, and representatives from the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD).

The governor’s trip was announced last week, with his office stating at the time that Kemp would “meet with leaders of aerospace industry companies who have already invested in or are considering investing in the state.”

Kemp, at the time, expressed his eagerness to share why Georgia is “the best state in which to invest and bring opportunity” while meeting with industry leaders.

During the first day at the event, Kemp met with representatives from Solvay, a global leader science company whose technologies bring “benefits to many aspects of daily life.”

Solvay currently runs four existing operations in Georgia.

“Today we met with reps from [Solvay], which has long been part of Georgia’s innovative community of international companies. With its U.S. HQ in Alpharetta and manufacturing in Winder and Augusta, the Belgian company employs nearly 1,000 hardworking Georgians and is still growing,” Kemp wrote in a social media post.

Kemp also met with representatives from Gulfstream Aerospace, a company based in Savannah that “designs, develops, manufactures, markets, services, and supports the world’s most technologically advanced business-jet aircraft.”

“We enjoyed spending time with [Gulfstream Aerospace] today, another great Georgia company that has a strong presence at the [Paris Air Show]. They continue to be a leader in this industry while creating thousands of good-paying jobs as a valued corporate partner in Savannah,” Kemp wrote in another social media post.

Aerospace products are Georgia’s top export and the state’s second largest manufacturing industry, according to GDEcD.
