A new caravan of migrants is heading to the U.S. border on foot using the U.S. government-issued CBP One smartphone app, which some of them worry 2024 presidential nominee Donald Trump would end if he wins a second term and closes the border.

The caravan left from southern Mexico.

The CBP One app allows migrants to schedule asylum appointments with U.S. immigration officials once they reach Mexico City or states in northern Mexico.

The Associated Press interviewed some of the migrants in the caravan who cited concerns about the U.S. presidential election in November as the reason behind their decision to head to the border.

“We are running the risk that permits (to cross the border) might be blocked,” said Miguel Salazar, a migrant from El Salvador.

Salazar said he is worried that a new Trump administration would stop allowing migrants to schedule appointments on the CBP One app.
