The Weather Channel At least six people were killed when tornadoes and severe weather carved a path of destruction across Tennessee Saturday. T​hree of the deaths happened north of Nashville, according to the city’s Office of Emergency Management. Those three victims were later identified by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department as: Floridema Gabriel Perez, 31; her son, Anthony Elmer Mendez, 2; and Joseph Dalton, 37. ESPN Former Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans tight end Frank Wycheck died Saturday. He was 52 years old. Wycheck’s family said in a statement that he apparently fell inside his Chattanooga, Tennessee, home and hit his head Saturday morning. He was found unresponsive later in the day. Wycheck, a member of the Titans’ Ring of Honor, caught 482 passes for 4,958 yards and 27 touchdowns for the Oilers/Titans franchise. His 482 receptions are third most in franchise history. Axios RemArms, previously known as Remington Arms, will close its gun factory in New York next year, per the Observer-Dispatch of Utica. The decision comes as the gun manufacturer, considered the oldest gun maker in the U.S., has twice filed for bankruptcy since 2018 and has been subject to layoffs and temporary closures in recent years. Fox News The FBI is investigating a vehicle explosion that occurred Wednesday at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing between the U.S. and Canada. The vehicle was heading from the U.S. to Canada and was going in the direction of the border officer building, sources told Fox News’ Alexis McAdams. The Epoch Times A growing number of TikTok users now get their news from the video-sharing app, with almost a third of adults between 18 and 29 regularly using the platform for news while consumption of news across other social media sites has declined, according to new research published Nov. 15. According to the survey data by Pew Research, in just three years, the share of U.S. adults who say they regularly get news from Chinese-owned TikTok has more than quadrupled, rising from just 3 percent in 2020 to 14 percent in 2023. The Washington Times Republican presidential candidate Tim Scott announced late Sunday that he was dropping out of the 2024 race, about two months before the start of voting in Iowa’s leadoff caucuses. The South Carolina senator made the surprise announcement on “Sunday Night in America” with Trey Gowdy. The news was so abrupt that one campaign worker told The Associated Press that campaign staff found out Scott was dropping out by watching the show. The worker was not authorized to discuss the internal deliberations publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. The news comes as Scott continued to struggle in the polls and just days after the third Republican primary debate. The only Black Republican senator, Scott entered the race in May with more cash than any other Republican candidate but couldn’t find a lane in a field dominated by former President Donald Trump. The Washington Post Thousands of people supporting Palestinian rights converged Saturday on Washington from around the country, demanding a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and an end to American aid to Israel amid a deepening war. Protestors filled and flowed beyond Freedom Plaza, a block from the White House, with the crowd streaming for at least a half mile down the surrounding streets. Anger and emotion mixed with feelings of comfort and encouragement, attendees said, as people of all ages mingled with like-minded allies. Many said they appreciated the chance to voice their demands and concerns en masse. The demonstration appeared to be one of the largest expressions of solidarity with the Palestinian people to date. The Hill Children in first through sixth grade will now be required to learn cursive handwriting after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 446 into law on Oct. 13. Exhibit 202 is an email from August 2020 sent by prosecutor Leslie Wolf to senior FBI and IRS investigators who are drafting a search warrant. Wolf tells them to keep the scope narrow and limited to potential violations of foreign lobbying laws, or FARA, and to remove references to “Political Figure 1.” So who is “Political Figure 1?” Well, that’s explained in Exhibit 203. The Hill GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign is asking the Republican National Committee (RNC) to cut the number of candidates for the third debate down to the top four.  Vivek 2024 CEO Ben Yoho urged the RNC to limit the next debate to the top four candidates in national polling besides former President Trump, in a letter addressed to RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and Committee on Arrangements co-Chairs David Bossie and Anne Hathaway. He also asked the RNC to raise the donor threshold to 100,000 donors.    “But against the backdrop of a chaotic second debate and the reality of a frontrunner who has declined to participate, we respectfully call on the RNC to revise its approach so that Republican voters can focus on serious candidates who have a viable path to beating Joe Biden—or whomever the Democrats put up to replace him,” Yoho wrote in the letter obtained by The Hill.  READ THE FULL STORY

Politico California Gov. Gavin Newsom will appoint EMILY’s List President Laphonza Butler to fill the seat of the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, elevating the head of a fundraising juggernaut that works to elect Democratic women who support abortion rights, according to a person familiar with the decision. Newsom is moving swiftly to name the next senator, two days after Feinstein’s death and just as a perilously split Congress narrowly averted a government shutdown. Senate Democrats are in need of every vote in the closely divided chamber. The announcement was expected to come Monday, and an adviser to the governor, Anthony York, told POLITICO that Newsom is making his appointment without putting limitations or preconditions on his pick running for the seat in 2024. Politico Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) pulled the fire alarm in a House office building as his party tried to delay a vote on a hurried House GOP stopgap spending bill, according to the Republican-controlled Administration Committee. Bowman “pulled a fire alarm in Cannon this morning,” a spokesperson for the panel said. “An investigation into why it was pulled is underway.” Neither the U.S. Capitol Police nor Bowman immediately returned a request for comment on the fire alarm activation, which multiple people familiar with the situation said was caught on camera as the House descended into fresh chaos on Saturday. Biden selected Arizona — a state where the former president attempted to challenge the 2020 election results and considered a major battleground again next year — as the setting for his fourth major speech on protecting democracy. It is also home to the late Sen. John McCain, who Biden has pointed to as an example of what the Republican Party used to stand for before Trump was elected. Biden centered his speech around McCain’s legacy to make the case that preserving American institutions should not be a partisan issue.
