Former Planned Parenthood Director Warns Ohio Parents What Could Happen to Their Daughters if Ballot Amendment Enshrines Abortion in State Constitution

National pro-life leader and former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson spelled out Sunday what could await pregnant teens in Ohio should a proposed constitutional amendment allow them to obtain abortions without parental consent.

Johnson spoke to a large crowd at a Rosary Rally, organized by Catholics for Catholics, to encourage Ohioans to vote “yes” on Issue 1 on Tuesday.

“I’m here because I’m a mom of eight kids,” Johnson, the founder of And Then There Were None, a ministry that helps abortion clinic workers leave the industry, told the crowd gathered at the rally in Norwood, Ohio.

“I’ve got five boys and three girls, so I’m really fighting for them,” she said. “Because that is what we do as parents. We fight for our kids. We take the daggers for them, we take the arrows for them. All of this is about our kids. And I’m standing here before you because we are here to say that we’ve had enough.”

Johnson recited the victories won by Americans who have been fighting against pushers of woke culture, including the recent battles surrounding Bud Light, Target, and Disney. She spoke up about the feelings of parents of all political stripes regarding attempts to force gender ideology on families and to eliminate parental consent for abortions and transgender medical treatments for minors:

We are fed up with gender ideology wokeness and all the other colors of the rainbow being shoved down our throats in the name of tolerance. We are not going to allow groups like Planned Parenthood and other abortion proponents to whisk our children off in the middle of the school day and allow these dangerous and filthy abortion facilities to perform procedures on them, where one of the risks is death, without our knowledge or consent. Do you know that’s actually happening in many states?

Johnson told the crowd that if they failed to pass Issue 1 on Tuesday, “this is what will be funneled into Ohio”:

Yes, Every Kid

Young girls will be dropped off at school by their parents. And they’ll be pregnant and they may have told their school counselor. They may have told their school nurse that they’re pregnant, but their parents don’t know. They may have told a teacher that they’re pregnant, behind their parents back.

The teacher, the counselor, the school counselor, the cafeteria lady, the nurse, whoever, set up an appointment at a dirty, filthy abortion facility in their town. Their parents have no idea the girl’s pregnant; they have no idea that the girl was even having sex, maybe. They’ve no idea – nothing.

And that school counselor, that cafeteria lady … that nurse, a teacher, after you drop your kid off at school, that school worker is going to pick up your kid. They’re going to take them to an abortion facility. And that child, that minor, is going to sign her own consent form. I’m talking about a 12, 13, 14-year-old child is going to walk into an abortion facility, they’re going to sign their own consent form … that they don’t read, and they don’t understand because they’re 12 and 13 years old.

And by the way, no abortion worker is going to explain it to them.

“That paper – it says they’re consenting to the risk of death, infertility, sepsis, that can lead to death,” Johnson explained. “Retain products of conception, you know what that is? Retain products of their baby. They could have parts of their baby that are retained in their uterus. They could have their baby’s head floating around in their uterus, because the abortionist didn’t get it all out. And their baby’s head could then cause an infection in their uterus and they could die from it. They’re signing that form.”

The young girl signing the consent form, the former Planned Parenthood director said, would then have an abortion “with instruments that were probably not properly sterilized,” and then would be taken back to school by the school employee.

“And her parent is going to pick her up in the school pickup line,” Johnson continued. “And that parent will have absolutely no idea that their grandchild was killed that day.”

Warning that the elimination of parental consent for abortion and transgender medical drugs and surgeries is “already happening in many, many other states in this country,” Johnson added:

If you don’t get this right in Ohio, Planned Parenthood and other groups like them, they are going to be able to give children, maybe your children, maybe other children, cross-sex hormones … they’re going to be able to give these drugs to your kids without your knowledge or consent. And, then, if they want to even go further than that, they’ll be able to give these kids, they’re gonna be able to mutilate their genitals without your knowledge or consent.

They say it’s a lie, but it’s not. We’ve already found many, many hospitals that are performing genital mutilation, mutilation surgeries on children.

It is happening all around this country and if you don’t get this right in Ohio, it will happen here.

Catholics for Catholics joined with Catholic Speakers Organization to organize the prayer rally to encourage Ohioans to pray for the passage Tuesday of Issue 1, which would require a stronger majority – 60 percent of votes – rather than a simple majority, in favor of any new proposed constitutional amendments. Approval of Issue 1 could then prevent the ballot amendment from being passed in November.

The radical amendment would enshrine abortion in the Ohio Constitution and restrict the legal rights of parents to consent to reproductive procedures performed on their minor children.

The Associated Press (AP) adopted the narrative of abortion and transgender activists in its coverage of the Rosary Rally.

AP reported that “a national religious organization, Catholics for Catholics, gathered a lineup of anti-abortion influencers and conspiracy theorists from across the U.S. to urge a ‘yes’ vote during a Sunday ‘rosary rally’ in a Cincinnati suburb.”

“The rally’s advertised speakers included actor Jim Caviezel and former national security adviser Michael Flynn — both of whom have amassed large followings even as they’ve touted baseless conspiracy theories,” AP added.

According to Catholics for Catholics, Sound of Freedom star Caviezel’s address at the rally was not livestreamed at the request of the speaker’s management.

Other speakers included Ltg. Michael Flynn, senior advisor for Catholics for Catholics; Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas; and detransitioner Chloe Cole.
