President Donald Trump formally endorsed State Senator Brent Taylor (R-Memphis) in the upcoming August 6 Republican primary for Tennessee’s newly redrawn 9th Congressional District.
“It is my Great Honor to endorse Highly Respected State Senator, Brent Taylor, who is running to represent the Incredible People of Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District. Brent is strongly supported by the most Highly Respected MAGA Warriors in Tennessee, including both of your tremendous U.S. Senators, my friends, Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Monday.
Acknowledging Taylor’s background as a businessman and state senator, Trump described the Republican as an individual who has “dedicated his life to serving his Community.”

If elected, Trump said Taylor “will work tirelessly to Grow our Economy, Champion our Amazing Farmers and Ranchers, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Unleash American Energy DOMINANCE, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Support our Brave Military, Veterans, and Law Enforcement, Advance Election Integrity, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment.”
“Brent Taylor has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Representative from Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” Trump added.
Responding to Trump’s endorsement, Taylor thanked the president and said the backing would help advance the “America First” agenda in Tennessee.
“We have an unprecedented opportunity to cement President Trump’s America First agenda in Tennessee’s history for generations to come,” Taylor said.
Taylor said he has witnessed “the attempts of woke, leftist policies to destroy our Tennessee values and everything we stand for,” adding that he has “been on the front lines fighting against the Democrats and radical leftist crime policies.”
“With President Trump’s help, the Golden Age of Tennessee is now upon us,” Taylor added.
Looking ahead, Taylor said he is prepared to take his legislative priorities to Congress.
“Now, from Collierville to College Grove, I’m ready to bring that same fight to Washington on behalf of the great people of Tennessee,” he said. “I’m honored and deeply humbled to have the endorsement of the most consequential President of my lifetime.”

Taylor faces State Representative Todd Warner (R-Chapel Hill), Charlotte Bergmann, and Jeremy Thompson in the Republican primary for Tennessee’s newly redrawn 9th Congressional District.
State Senator London Lamar (D-Memphis), State Representative Justin Pearson (D-Memphis), La Troy A-Williams, and Jim Torino are competing for the Democratic nomination.
Early voting for the primary election begins July 17 and runs through August 1. The last day to request an absentee ballot is July 27.
