U.S. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer Backing Garrett in TN-06 Race, Taylor in TN-09 Race

U.S. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN-06) has endorsed State Rep. Johnny Garrett (R-Goodlettsville) in Tennessee’s 6th Congressional District race and State Senator Brent Taylor (R-Memphis), who is running for in the race for Tennessee’s newly-redrawn 9th Congressional District.

In his endorsement of Taylor, Emmer said, “The people of Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District deserve a representative who will unapologetically fight for President Trump’s agenda from day one.”

“[Taylor] has proven time and again in the State Senate that he’s that kind of conservative leader, and I’m proud to fully endorse him for Congress,” Emmer added.

Responding to Emmer’s endorsement, Taylor said, “I appreciate Majority Whip [Emmer’s] support as I work to Take Tennessee to the Top under President Trump’s America First Agenda!”

“In the state Senate I became known as a fighter who won’t back down. I’m ready to fight illegal immigration, tackle crime, and stop China to protect our Tennessee values. I’m ready to take that fight to Congress for Middle and West Tennessee,” Taylor added.

In endorsing Garrett for the 6th Congressional District, Emmer highlighted the state representative’s recently-concluded six-year run as House Majority Whip for the Tennessee General Assembly.

“As Majority Whip in the State House, Johnny has been fighting for the America First agenda in Tennessee, and I know he will continue that same fight in Congress as we continue to deliver wins for the American people,” Emmer said.

Garrett thanked Emmer for his support, adding, “I’m running in TN-06 to cut taxes, deport illegal aliens, and get rid of waste, fraud, and abuse in government. Looking forward to working alongside you and [President Trump] to fight for our conservative values!

Emmer announced his endorsements in the Tennessee races one day after U.S. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA-01) voiced his own support for Garrett and Taylor in the upcoming primary elections.

Early voting for the August 6 primary elections begins July 17 and runs through August 1.

    No surprise here fellow conservatives. When you are a tepid conservative and you are in the House Republican leadership, what you really want to see is tepid conservatives to be elected to open seats who will go along to get along.

    Congressmen Emmer and Scalise with Heritage conservative scores of 79% and 75% respectively are certainly tepid conservatives, and they prefer Garrett and Taylor who according to the Tennessee Legislative Report Card (“TLRC”) both have a non-threatening tepid conservative score of 73%. So much better, if you are in the tepid conservative leadership than Garrett’s opponent Van Hilleary who previously served in the House where his American Conservative Union scores were consistently above 90% or Todd Warner’s (Taylors’s opponent) latest TLRC score of 96%.

    Now all 6th and 9th District conservatives have to do is decide whether they want a tepid conservative who will do what he is told or a solid conservative who dares consistently vote conservative..
