Predators Fall to Penguins in Game 5 of Stanley Cup Final, 6 to 0

The night began with high expectations for the Nashville Predators in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the PPG Paints Arena, but hopes of taking a one game lead in a series tied at two games apiece vanished quickly as the Penguins jumped to a 3 to 0 lead in the first period.

Things got worse for the Predators in the second period when the Penguins added another 3 goals.

Down 6 to 0 at the start of the third period, the Predators remained unable to get their offense going, and when the final seconds ticked off the clock, the Predators had been shut out.

The Penguins now lead the series 3 games to 2, and can clinch their second consecutive Stanley Cup with a victory in Game 6.

The Predators will have to win both Game 6 and Game 7 to claim the NHL championship trophy.
