Homan Confirms ‘Small’ Security Force Will Remain in Minnesota

Border Czar Tom Homan on Monday confirmed that a small federal security force would remain in Minnesota after he announced a drawdown of federal operations in the state.

Minneapolis has been the site of tense clashes between Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials and anti-ICE demonstrators. Homan, earlier this month, announced the conclusion of major ICE operations in the city.

He did, however, confirm that a “security force” would “remain for a short period of time, just to make sure the coordination, the agreements we have with local and state law enforcement stay in place and they respond to a public safety threat when needed,” he said, according to The Hill.

One of the key developments leading to the drawdown was Homan’s negotiations of agreements with local law enforcement to cooperation with immigration authorities, especially on the detention of violent illegal aliens.

While federal law enforcement conducted operations in Minneapolis, over 4,000 criminal illegal aliens were taken into custody.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt noted President Donald Trump’s immigration policies delivered “the public safety results the American people demanded, with more than 4,000 dangerous criminal illegal aliens already arrested in Minnesota since Operation Metro began.”

“Democrats opened our borders and allowed vicious criminals, including murderers, rapists, gang members, and terrorists, to invade our communities. President Trump is reversing that horrific damage and removing these threats from our country. At President Trump’s direction, Tom Homan’s commitment to draw down forces in Minneapolis today follows these achievements and the new, unprecedented cooperation from state and local officials in Minnesota,” Leavitt stated.

“Commitments like these from elected officials to work with the President and federal law enforcement produce tremendous outcomes that help keep Americans safe,” she added.
