Sources in the Tennessee General Assembly who were allowed to view the Covenant Killer Manifesto by the Metro Nashville Police Department have confirmed to The Tennessee Star that the documents released by Steven Crowder on Monday morning, which he purports to be part of Covenant killer Audrey Elizabeth Hale’s manifesto, are indeed part of the documents obtained by MNPD during their investigation, and were authentically written by Hale.
The independent confirmation of the manifesto comes after MNPD told The Star on Monday morning it “has no idea” about the documents leaked by Crowder. The Star contacted MNPD again to confirm the documents are Hale’s original writings, but a spokesperson for the department said she did not know whether the documents were authentic.
“I think that we’ve got people that are trying to get to the bottom of it,” the MNPD spokesman told The Star. “Certainly, no one – I didn’t release it, no one from this office sent those photos over there. So we’re just trying substantiate what’s going on and how it may have happened. ”
MNPD seemed to indicate it is exploring the origin of the documents Crowder purports to be part of Hale’s manifesto. “We’re just finding out, we’re just here like the rest of you guys,” the spokesman told The Star.
Matt Murphy, the host of the “Matt Murphy Show” on SuperTalk 99.7 WTN, wrote on social media that he has “independently verified” and confirmed the images released by Crowder “are actual pages” from Hale’s manifesto, adding that his “source has seen these very pages.” Murphy called on MNPD and Mayor Freddie O’Connell to respond.

News Channel 5 chief investigative reporter Phil Williams wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that his sources confirm the documents are authentic, calling it a “selective leak” of the manifesto.
However, Williams claimed his sources told him the pages are “misleading” and that Hale “hated everybody.”
Multiple sources have told me that the selective leak of three pages of the #CovenantSchool shooting “manifesto” is EXTREMELY misleading. People who have read the whole thing say “there’s something in there for everybody.” Another, “She hated everybody.”

The parent company of The Star filed two lawsuits seeking to compel the manifesto’s release in May, against MNPD and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and both lawsuits remain active.
Law enforcement has repeatedly resisted calls to release the document, including from Representative John Rose (R-TN-06), who warned the “lack of cooperation” may hamstring legislative solutions to stop future school shootings.
