President Donald Trump told a White House gathering Wednesday evening that he will nominate Todd Blanche to permanently serve as attorney general after a brief stint as the country’s acting chief prosecutor.

“Tomorrow I’m instructing Dan [Scavino] and everybody else that’s involved in that very complicated process, which is gonna go, I think, very quickly, that we are going to make him permanent Attorney General,” Trump told a Rose Garden Club Dinner.

Scavino, the deputy chief of staff, posted a video of Trump’s comments on his social media account.

Blanche, who was confirmed last year as deputy attorney general, was named on an acting basis to replace Pam Bondi when she stepped down as attorney general this spring.

“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900. We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General, Trump said on Truth Social.

Before that, he served as a private lawyer on Trump‘s defense team during the various lawfare attacks on the president in civil and criminal courts.
