Live from Music Row Friday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed American Thinker contributor James Stansbury to the newsmaker line to elaborate on his recent article addressing the transgender fad and the money it generates.
Leahy: On the newsmaker line, James Stansbury, who wrote this great article at American Thinker. Headline: Is the Transgender Fad a Triumph of Marketing?
First two sentences, the number of cases of child gender dysphoria in the U.S. has now exploded, voted well over 1,000 times above its historically tiny 1/100ths of one percent of the population.
This unnatural surge in popularity has all the symptoms of a fad, and most parents are concerned, except for the woke. James Stansbury, that was a very powerful and concise statement of the problem. How did you become interested in writing about this, James?
Stansbury: I’m in Virginia, by the way, near the state capital, and Loudon County up in Northern Virginia caused a lot of waves right before our gubernatorial election. And they had a transgender student, a male, who went into the ladies’ room and actually raped a young girl.
And the school covered it up. And of course, the news found out about it and her father went to a school board meeting and brought this thing up, and he was taken out by the police.
Finally, after the news coverage got pretty bad for him, they moved this boy to another school in the same district, and he did the same thing.
Leahy: So this is the problem. James. You’re right. There are at least four classifications of groups marketing the trans agenda.
One, government, two, educators, three, opportunities follow the money, and four, media. Let’s start with the government. How are they promoting this trans fad?
Stansbury: Actually, it started back under the Obama administration. He started those crazy bathroom bills and got trans allowed back in the military. But Biden is carrying that on.
And of course, that includes the entire Democratic Party. They’re actively promoting this transgender movement. And there’s a lot of federal grants right now funding this kind of thing.
Leahy: What is the solution, James Stansbury, in your view on this?
Stansbury: Well, we got to get the Democrats out of there. That’s the main thing.
Leahy: Well, and on that note, we will agree with you. James Stansbury, thanks so much for joining us today. Keep up the great work at the American Thinker.
Stansbury: I appreciate it.
Leahy: All right, Crom, what do you think of all that?
Carmichael: Well, he’s correct. You have to get the Democrats out, but then the question is, what do you do? So, Michael, let’s talk a little bit about that. You regain political power and let’s say the House and the Senate. What do you do? What do you do with that power on this issue?
Leahy: What I would do is I would start off by making any kind of genital mutilation for anybody under the age of 18 illegal under 21.
Carmichael: Under 21. Because you got to get out of college.
Leahy: I’ll go with that.
Carmichael: If you can’t drink until you’re 21, you can’t mutilate your body until you’re 21.
Leahy: Good point.
Carmichael: All right, so what would you call the bill? This is very important, Michael. This is where Republicans do a terrible job.
Leahy: I would say child Abuse Mutilation.
Carmichael: Yes, the anti-child mutilation act. And then you pass the act, and it’s a one-page act, and you just simply stop it, and you make it a felony to participate in it, and you make it a felony to promote it in any way in government-controlled institutions you make it criminal, and you call it the Anti-Child Mutilation Act.
Just really simple, so that when Democrats try to stop it, or if Biden vetoes it, if he’s still in office, he is forced to be for child mutilation. That’s what we have to do. We need to learn how to name bills, and then we need to learn how to make them very short.
Leahy: There’s one other element to this, and Mr. Stansbury writes about this in the category of opportunists who are promoting this. He writes, follow the money. Our ethically challenged healthcare and big pharma are actively promoting it, despite knowing it is impossible to change a person’s true sex because it is determined at the cellular level.
They also actively suppressed scientific evidence that transitioning underage children does more harm than good, particularly as it involves suicide and gender dysphoric children.
Carmichael: And included in that bill should be the right for people to sue.
Leahy: Yes.
Carmichael: Who regret their decision, and they can sue the people who make the drugs and the suits should be for enormous amounts of money. Now, let me make something clear here. If somebody’s in their twenty s and wants to transgender on their own money, or if a group wants to raise money and help adults transgender, then that’s a private matter.
I don’t think it’s a good idea for people to do that. But if that’s what they want to do, that’s fine. But to use government-funded money or insurance money and for other people to pay for it unless the price is fixed at cost because you’ve got to take the profit incentive.
We saw it with Vanderbilt right here in our own community. We saw the person from Vanderbilt get up on the stage and talk about just how much money Vanderbilt is making on mutilating teenagers, and then said, and anybody who won’t get on the team and agree to do it, leave, go find someplace else to work. That’s what we found. When you have immense amounts of money in anything, good people turn really bad.
Leahy: And that’s what happened, in my view, at Vanderbilt when they’re chasing the money.
Carmichael: It’s sad.
