Arizona’s Republican gubernatorial nominee is thrashing her Democrat opponent over that Democrat’s refusal to debate her before the November general election.
“13 days ago, I offered up the sweetest debate offer in history,” Lake tweeted on Friday. “[Secretary of State Katie Hobbs] waited until 2 hours before the official [Arizona Clean Elections Committee] deadline & denied my offer. She has disdain for us, Arizona. She thinks we are beneath her. We’re going to beat her like a drum in November, folks.”

In a Friday video, Lake attacked Hobbs for her refusal to participate, calling her a “coward.”
“Well, the deadline was today, and my opponent Katie Hobbs has officially declined the debate,” Lake said. “Hobbs is so terrified of the fact that I might bring up that she is a twice-convicted racist, and that her racism cost the Arizona taxpayers nearly three million dollars.”
“She doesn’t have one single policy to stand on,” Lake said. “Not one. I made it unbelievably easy for her. She picks the date, the time, the moderator. She even had the chance to write all of the questions. But she would rather hide from the voters and let Soros and other dark money groups pour millions of dollars into attack ads against me. That’s her plan.”
In the original debate offer, Lake said Hobbs was hiding from her and from the people of Arizona.
“It looks like my radical opponent Katie Hobbs is going to take a page out of Joe Biden’s playbook and campaign from her basement,” Lake said in her original debate offer. “Do you want to find out if she’s serious about being governor? If she is, she will take me up on this offer.”
“Katie, I’m speaking directly to you,” Lake said. “You claim to care about the people of Arizona. Prove it. Debate me. You name the time and you name the place. And to make things even easier for you, I will allow you to choose the moderator. Hell, I’ll even let you write the questions.”
Lake needled Hobbs further on Saturday.
“The local news is covering your debate dodge, [Katie Hobbs]. Katie, You can’t even sit in a chair next to [PBS reporter Ted Simons] and face me, yet you expect the people of Arizona to think you’d stand toe to toe with the Cartels? Coward,” she said on Twitter.

The attacks continued into Sunday.
“The Arizona Media may hate me, but they hate a Candidate hiding from them even more!” Lake tweeted on Sunday.
