Barry Loudermilk Attacks Biden’s ‘War on American Energy’

Georgia’s 11th Congressional District Representative Barry Loudermilk criticized President Joe Biden and the EPA’s fiscal year (FY) 2023 budget on Tuesday.

“Biden’s war on American energy production is getting an assist from the Democrat-led Congress in the FY23 Interior and EPA appropriations package. [It] restricts offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and restricts new projects in designated areas of the continental shelf,” Loudermilk said.

The House Committee on Appropriations approved Fiscal Year 2023 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Funding Bill on June 29th. The budget saw an increase of 18 percent, or $6.8 billion, for a total of $44.8 billion in regular appropriations.

Biden asserted on Tuesday that “gas prices have been dropping for 34 days straight, about 50 cents a gallon. That saves the average driver about $25 a month,” Biden said. “I know those extra dollars and cents mean something. It’s breathing room. And we’re not done working to get prices even lower.”

“Potus, the American people are simply driving less because they cannot afford your war on American energy, which has resulted in the highest gas prices in our nation’s history,” Loudermilk said in response to the president.
Oil currently is sitting at $100 a barrel, a figure that has not been reached since 2014.
“I’ve been releasing about 1 million barrels of oil a day from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and rallied our global partners to release a combined 240 million barrels of oil onto the market,” Biden said on Tuesday.

“I thought it was ‘Putin’s gas prices’? Is he lowering them now?” Turning Point USA contributor Jordan Rachel said in response.

Although it is true that prices have decreased by more than 50 cents in the past 35 days, the price per gallon is nearly twice what it was while Donald Trump was POTUS.

“Even the intern who wrote this tweet knows that we’re still paying double what it should be … because of Biden’s failures,” Author Tim Young said on Tuesday.

Loudermilk also pointed out the inflation rate, which hit a 40-year high.

“Biden’s economy just broke a new record as inflation hits new 40-year high,” Loudermilk said.

The Libertarian Party also took to Twitter to respond to the commander-in-chief’s message about gas prices.

“You continue to gaslight Americans as they languish under record-setting inflation, even after blaming EVERY other factor imaginable other than its actual source – The Federal Reserve.” The Libertarian Party said. “Stop hanging your hat on month-old data as the two-year trajectory heads toward crisis.”
