Live from Music Row Monday morning on the Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 am to 8:00 am – Leahy was joined in studio by all-star panelist, Crom Carmichael to continue the discussion on the ongoing impeachment of President Donald Trump.
During the second hour, Carmichael detailed how if Schiff was called to the Senate as a witness that he could be indicted on perjury charges should he plead the fifth and have been found to know the whistleblower. He also noted that if Schiff chose not to come to the hearings, it would be damaging.
Leahy: Crom, welcome. Crom Carmicheal, the original all-star panelist is with us this morning. The phone lines Crom are just totally lighting up here as we’re talking about impeachment and the rule of law. And if you’re on the phone here, hold on. We’ll get to you in just a second. Good morning Crom.
Carmichael: Good morning sir. How are you?
Leahy: I am great. I am great.
Carmichael: Your comments on Dilbert. I saw that article.
Leahy: Scott Adams.
Carmichael: Scott Adams – OK. It is just fascinating how polarized… I mean when Obama became president I wasn’t thrilled. In fact, I was unhappy. But I didn’t go around in a rage. And so many people on the left are still really enraged. They have been enraged the entire time.
Leahy: (Chuckles) Enraged for three years.
Carmichael: They’ve been enraged the entire time.
Leahy: Can you imagine what that would do to your body if you’ve been enraged for years?
Carmichael: I would think it would impact you. If you just stayed in a constant state of anger. And then every time good news comes out, apparently, it makes you even angrier.
Leahy: Yes! Yes!
Carmicheal: That has to be really hard. When Obama was president you were cheering (Leahy chuckles)Â if the unemployment rate went down. And if wages went up which was rare. But under Trump wages are going up tremendously especially for the lower 20% and the left just cannot stand it.
Leahy: They are.
Carmichael: I go back to what I have said and that is the left and I’m not commenting on necessarily all the activists. But the left is now the party of government. And by the way, we can talk about this later, Buttigieg is the epitome of the left.
He’s very calm in the way he speaks but everything that he wants to do either dramatically expands the power of government and it makes more and more people dependent on government. And I want to try to tie that in later to Angela Merkel and what’s going on in Europe. And also what’s going on in Hong Kong. In many ways it’s a worldwide phenomenon and we need to talk about that.
Leahy: The left is apoplectic. The word for the day is apoplectic.
Carmichael: Yes.

Carmichael: If he (Adam Schiff) says I don’t know anything about the whistleblower and he does know something about the whistleblower and that is later proven then he could be brought up for perjury and in the environment, we’re in today I would fully expect that he would be indicted for perjury.
Leahy: Here’s another interesting aspect of this, Crom. I think it’s the case, as the chairperson of the House Intelligence Committee he’s not under oath, right?
Carmichael: Not now, he’s not.
Leahy: Right. Remember he was asked about the identity of the whistleblower and he said as chairperson, ‘I don’t know who that is.’
Carmichael: Right.
Leahy: Does anybody believe him when he says that?
Carmichael: He himself has described the Intelligence Committee as a grand jury proceeding. He himself has described it that way. He would have a very difficult time in the Senate. If he wouldn’t come to testify politically that would be incredibly damaging. And Vindman apparently is the person who knows who the whistleblower is because the whistleblower is apparently the second person that he talked with.
And Adam Schiff directed him not to answer that question of who the second person was because Adam Schiff said we’re not going to use this committee to identify the whistleblower. And so he would have to answer the question. He’d be drummed out of government service if he took the fifth.
