Two companies in Tennessee have announced expansion plans this week that will create hundreds of new jobs for state residents.
Medacta, a Switzerland-based company, will move its American headquarters from Franklin to Spring Hill. At its new location, the company will open its American manufacturing hub.
The company, which specializes in producing sports medical equipment, expects to invest $85 million in this project, which will create over 200 new jobs.
Francesco Siccardi, Medacta’s CEO, said the company’s “vision and commitment is to improve the care and well-being of orthopedic and spine surgery patients.”
“Our differentiated innovations, products and solution offerings are targeted to improve patient outcomes and are part of Medacta’s success in delivering above-market growth over the past years,” Siccardi said.
“This new development project in Spring Hill will not only assist us in our further growth strategy but will also strengthen Medacta’s U.S. footprint to enable a healthy and active lifestyle for every patient in the U.S. We are delighted to have found this great location and intend to advance the project without delay,” he added.
Governor Bill Lee said the state “continues to compete and win on a global scale, attracting world-class companies like Medacta that choose to grow their business here.”
“These 200-plus new jobs reflect the confidence international companies have in Tennessee’s skilled workforce, strong business climate, and commitment to long-term success,” he added.
Spring Hill Mayor Matt Fitterer said the company’s investment “brings high-quality corporate and manufacturing careers that will create opportunities for generations to come while strengthening Spring Hill’s and Tennessee’s position as a premier destination for innovation and advanced industry.”
In addition to Medacta, Bridgetown Natural Foods said it is increasing its operations in Lebanon. Bridgetown Natural Foods is a food manufacturing company that started in Oregon.
The company is installing a new $24 million food production line at its facility in Wilson County. Bridgetown Natural Foods anticipates creating 237 new jobs with this new investment, bringing the number of Tennesseans the company employs to more than 450.
Bridgetown Natural Foods expanded to Tennessee in 2024, which was the first time the company opened a manufacturing facility outside Oregon.
Dan Klock, Bridgetown Natural Foods’ CEO, said communities where the company operates are “important stakeholders.”
“Since beginning our expansion into Tennessee in 2024, we have been warmly welcomed by the people of Lebanon and Wilson County and strongly supported by Tennessee’s economic development leaders,” he noted.
Deputy Governor Stuart McWhorter said the state’s “food and beverage industry continues to be one of [the state’s] strongest economic drivers.”
“When a company chooses to grow in Tennessee for the second time in two years, it reinforces the strength of our business climate, workforce, and partnerships,” he added.
State Senator Mark Pody (R-Lebanon) said the company’s expansion “will provide new opportunities for local families while strengthening our region’s economy.”
“I appreciate Bridgetown for choosing to grow here and look forward to its continued success in Middle Tennessee,” Pody said.
