Bishop Aubrey Shines, chairman of Conservative Clergy of Color, called Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King “asinine” and “disgusting” for suggesting that “white European” statues of Jesus should be torn down.
“Yes, I think the statues of the white European they claim is Jesus should also come down,” King, a former surrogate for Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-VT) presidential campaign, wrote on Twitter Monday. “They are a form of white supremacy. Always have been.”
In another tweet, King said “all murals and stained glass windows of white Jesus, and his European mother, and their white friends should also come down.”
“They are a gross form of white supremacy,” said King.
Bishop Shines said King’s comments were “disgusting,” “outrageous,” and “an insult of the lowest order to every single Christian living in the United States.”
“How dare Mr. King try to paint our Savior into one race and use that as an excuse to deface His image. Does this mean now that every Biblical figure must go too?” he said in a statement released Monday night.
Conservative Clergy of Color launched earlier this month as a coalition of pastors and ministers “who believe that their work supersedes the boundaries of race.”
“Mr. King’s imbecilic knowledge of this issue is embarrassing,” Shines continued. “If he asks that the Eurocentric depiction of Christ come down, would he be okay if the Afrocentric, or the Asian-centric images also be removed? There’s a reason why there is no physical portrait of the Messiah, because it was never about the pigmentation of individuals who lived in that region during that time. The holy Scriptures declare by one blood were all races created. To raise the issue of the degree of melanin in one’s DNA as it relates to Christianity represents the most asinine, idiotic understanding of basic Judeo-Christian orthodoxy.”

Self-professed Christians need stop with the “Judeo-Christian” stuff. There was no Judeo-Christ, there is no Judeo-Christianity. Indeed, Christianity and Judaism are in many ways antithetical religions: Christians believe Jesus is the Way, the Truth, the Life and that there is no way to the Father but through Him. Jews believe Jesus was, at best, a sorcerer, and that He is, in all likelihood, boiling in a lake of excrement for all eternity (c.f. the story told in the Talmud of “Onkelos bar Kalonikos, the son of Titus’s sister”).
All anyone needs to do to validate what you wrote is to read the 7th through the 10th chapters of the book of HEBREWS.!

Mobs had already toppled statues of Confederates, then Christopher Columbus, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson; then Ulysses S. Grant (who helped defeat the Confederacy and ending slavery in the U.S.), Francis Scott Key (writer of “The Star-Spangled Banner”), St. Junipero Serra (the leader of Spanish missions in California), and Miguel de Cervantes (author of Don Quixote and a former slave); and then Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the Indian independence movement, and the Robert Gould Shaw 54th Regiment monument, which celebrates the first all-volunteer black regiment of the Union Army during the Civil War.
Mr. King you have a skewed sense of reality!!!! Everyone knows that MARY AND JOSEPH WERE OF MIDDLE EASTERN DESCENT!!! Therefore not European as you claim. The book of Matthew clearly shows the flight to EGYPT by Mary and Joseph.

To the best of my knowledge, where are no photos or even daguerreotypes of Jesus. And I’m certain that nobody alive to day was there 2000 years ago. So who can say beyond a doubt what “color” he was?
But a more pressing question is, why is it that only Democrats and certain ethnic “leaders” only get Crayola boxes with two crayons? I’ve never even seen a box of two crayons! Everybody knows, that to make great “pictures” you need the box of 64. But the real key, is the built-in sharpener.
To try to put this ignorance in some sort of perspective, we have to realize how people who are lost know no better. They’re lost. How can we expect them to act differently. That’s why it’s so tough being a Christian sometimes because we must still love and pray for them. We too were lost before we accepted Christ into our hearts.The reward, our reward however is eternal. And our forgiveness for them sustains us and gives us peace in all of the chaos. Theirs is for a moment and then there’s judgement. Christ led us by example as to how we should respond in persecution for His sake. If we follow His lead, we will finish the race and be victorious. Keep praying people, satan knows his days are short.
