Live from Music Row, Tuesday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed the host of Tomi Lahren is FEARLESS, Tomi Lahren to the newsmaker line to weigh in on the recent Twitter files dump and the cancellation of conservative baseballer Curt Schilling.
Leahy: We are joined on a newsmaker line right now by our good friend Tomi Lahren. She’s a fellow Nashvillian and Fox Nation contributor and host of Tomi Lahren is FEARLESS on Outkick. Now that’s a really great program.
You also have Tomi 2.2 million followers on Twitter. Twitter has been in the news a lot lately. Your thoughts about the release of the Twitter files by Elon Musk this past week.
Lahren: Hey, listen, it’s not like it was a big surprise to most of us who have been on Twitter for several years and know that the censorship, the collusion with the mainstream media, the DNC, and of course the elites has always been happening. We knew it, but it was validation.
We’ve been called conspiracy theorists for several years now. So having that validation is important. And I hope now that he’ll expose even more of the algorithms and even more of the stories that were suppressed because the American people, not just conservatives, deserve to know how Big Tech has worked to change the landscape of our political discussions and most importantly, our elections. And I’m happy that we’re starting to see a glimpse of that.
Leahy: Have you ever been banned by Twitter or put in the temporarily unavailable to play category?
Lahren: Not on Twitter. It’s happened to me on Facebook and Instagram a couple of different times all over talking about COVID. On Twitter, it hasn’t happened to me. But I’ll tell you this. My experience with Twitter has been just a shadow banning. And ever since Elon Musk took over, I’ve gained 2,000 followers. And yes, that’s because a lot of conservatives are returning to Twitter.
But it’s also because people are actually able to see my tweets now. They’re not buried in the algorithm. And that is a refreshing thing. I feel like the old Twitter is back where it’s actually more of a free speech platform. We can all play in the sandbox and I’m really enjoying it. It’s just a lot more fun now.
Leahy: I agree. I’ll tell you our story on this and get your reaction. So, Tomi, you’ve had a blue check on Twitter for a long time, right?
Lahren: Oh, yeah, it’s been several years now.
Leahy: They do this thing called the official check for news outlets and other groups. And we had applied at The Tennessee Star to get that official check back in 2018. For some reason, they couldn’t do it.
And then three days after Elon Musk officially acquired it, they must have gone back and said, yes. You’re official. Boom, we got our official check. How about that?
Lahren: That’s just great news. And I think that is what’s so exciting for so many of us. It’s never going to be fair on Big Tech. It’s just not. And we know that. But it’s going to be a little less unfair now and we’re able to expose what’s been done in the dark especially when it surrounds elections, and how they’ve been able to change the narrative.
That is going to be useful information for us moving forward. We know that the Democrats play with the narrative. We know that the mainstream media plays with the narrative. We know Big Tech plays with the narrative. But now we have that in our toolbox, and moving forward, we can act accordingly.
Leahy: Tomi, I’ve started watching your program on Outkick. Tomi Lahren is FEARLESS, and you had a local guest who lives in Williamson County. Now, a lot of people know it here in Williamson County, Tennessee, the great pitcher Curt Schilling, who should be in the Hall of Fame, but because he’s a conservative, they keep voting not to put him in the Hall of Fame. You interviewed him the other day. What were his thoughts about that?
Lahren: Listen, Curt has become a good friend of mine, and I’ll tell you this, he doesn’t care about being in the Hall of Fame. He really doesn’t. He often tells me, I’ve been through this process so many times. It’s always one of those things that’s hard on my family.
But he says, why would I want that validation or that rubber stamp from people who don’t like me just because I have a different political view than they do, not because of my record, not because of my accolades, not because of my career, but because they don’t like that I’m an outspoken conservative.
He’s totally fine with it. He doesn’t need the validation and rubber stamp from these people, and he’s happy just being liberated as a conservative and not ever having to cow tow or bow to the mob. And I would encourage everybody to be like Curt Schilling, honestly.
Leahy: In terms of Hall of Fame qualifications, he’s got it. He’s been a world champion MVP, with 216 wins, and 346 ERA’s in a long and storied career. That’s the guy who ought to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Lahren: Oh, absolutely. There’s just nobody better than Curt Schilling with the record that he has. He’s just an absolute legend. He’s done so much. He’s inspired so many communities, and oftentimes it has been blue states and blue cities that he’s inspired.
And for them, some of the fans have turned their back on him and the baseball writers who turn their backs on him after everything that he’s accomplished just because he’s a Trump supporter and just because he believes in a little thing called common sense and a limited government.
That’s just so entirely wrong. But it’s the climate in a landscape that he’s gotten used to and he’s become okay with it. And I think that we all really need to take a little bit of inspiration from Curt Schilling.
We do not need validation or justification from people who are dead set against liking us and are always going to be dedicated to misunderstanding us. It’s okay. The playing field is never going to be fair but Curt Schilling doesn’t need it. He’s a legend and we all know it.
