Gavin Newsom Blasted After Criticizing Tennessee Bill to Arm Teachers

Gavin Newsom TN Teacher Bill

Conservative commentators blasted California’s governor after he took to X to comment on the Tennessee Senate’s passage of a bill that would allow some teachers to carry guns in the classroom.

“Tennessee Republicans have decided their solution to gun violence in schools is…. MORE GUNS IN SCHOOLS,” said Governor Gavin Newsom (D).

Critics were quick to respond to Newsom’s gripe.

“[A]ren’t you protected by good guys with guns 24/7? OMG, you have guns near you? Does that serve to INCREASE violence or DECREASE violence around you? Do you read the crap you post?” said conservative radio show host Joe Pagliarulo.

Conservative commentator Maj Toure echoed a similar sentiment.

“The state that you live in of California has more restrictions on firearms for personal protection and MORE MASS SHOOTINGS than any other state,” he said. “Focus on YOUR state and solve that before attempting to discourage other states who have FAR LESS violent crimes and mass shootings.

“States like Tennessee understand what the second amendment and defending children’s lives means,” he continued. “You’re talking negatively about them here, but providing zero solutions for your constituents WHILE you personally have an armed security detail.”

“Do you not trust educators with their students safety Governor?” asked independent reporter Anthony Cabassa.

While California struggles with serious issues of its own (more people are homeless per capita in California than any other state in the union), Newsom has spent a fair amount of time meddling in Tennessee’s affairs.

When Tennessee passed a law making it a felony for adults to help minors obtain abortions out-of-state, Newsom’s Political Action Committee (PAC), called Campaign for Democracy, launched a full-fledged ad campaign against the measure.

“Trump Republicans want to criminalize young women who travel to receive the reproductive care they need,” the video said. “Don’t let them hold Tennessee women hostage.”

He also pushed the ad campaign on his X account.

“Tennessee’s abortion ban has no exceptions if you have been raped,” he said. “No exceptions if you’re the victim of incest. Now, Republicans in Tennessee are trying to punish young women that travel to receive care. The Tennessee GOP aren’t alone in their cruelty. We have to fight back.”
