Georgia U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls for Federal Investigation Over Emails from Arizona Sec State Hobbs to Twitter

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA-14) wants a federal investigation in Arizona where Kari Lake is disputing results of the gubernatorial election against Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, whose office reports preliminary results that Hobbs has won 50.3 percent to 49.6 percent. Greene’s call was also a reaction to a post of emails showing that Hobbs’ office reported misinformation tweets to Twitter on January 7, 2021.

The SOS of AZ and Gov candidate, Katie Hobbs, used the power of the AZ SOS to collude w/ Twitter to unconstitutionally violate 1st Amendment rights of Americans for her own political gain. This is communism and Hobbs can not be governor. I’m calling for a Federal investigation,” Greene tweeted Sunday morning.

On Sunday, One America News Reporter Christina Bobb tweeted a screenshot of redacted emails from exhibits in Missouri v. Biden, a lawsuit where the Missouri and Louisiana attorneys general allege that President Joe Biden and other top government officials used social media to suppress free speech. The email came amid heightened attention to social media posts the day after the deadly January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol, and the email chain was begun with a report sent by a redacted account at “azsos.gov” to the Center for Internet Security, which shared the emails with accounts at Twitter and the Department of Homeland Security.

“Reason: These messages falsely assert that the Voter Registration System is owned and therefore operated by foreign actors,” the original email said. “This is an attempt to further undermine confidence in the election institution in Arizona.”

“Both Tweets have been removed from the service,” a Twitter email replied.

Greene has been keeping an eye on the revelations in Missouri recently. On Friday she called for a House investigation into election interference in 2020, and tweeted, “Anyone who is excited about Pres Trump’s private tax returns (which will be a big nothing burger) better put down your popcorn and get your tissues ready because I’m delighted at the conversations I’m already having about investigating Twittergate. Early Christmas present.
