Live from Music Row Tuesday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed official guest host Grant Henry in the studio for another edition of Grant’s Rants.
Henry continued…
On occasion, you will hear me speak on behalf of a particular organization in this program. This is not one of those days. This is completely my opinion. And I’ll tell you all right now, for the first time in 30 years, the future of abortion in America will face its most consequential test when Supreme Court convenes tomorrow to hear a high stakes showdown taking aim in nearly five decades worth of precedent.
Here’s the CBS headline. I’m sure you’ll hear more about it. Supreme Court Prepares to Hear Biggest Abortion Fight in Decades. So for several decades, Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood vs. Casey has been the precedent that our Supreme Court turns to in regards to abortion in America.
Of course, some have said that Roe v. Wade is simply bad because it’s bad constitutional law or rather because it’s not constitutional law and gives almost no sense of an obligation to try to be. Some of these people that have said much include Supreme Court Justices White, Rehnquist, Scalia, Thomas, Kennedy, and O’Connor.
Edward Lazarus, actually, a former law clerk to Rose, author, Justice Harry Blackman wrote the following. He said, “As a matter of constitutional interpretation and judicial method, Roe v. Wade borders on the indefensible. I say this as someone utterly committed to the right to choose.”
Thus, even one of the most staunch abortion supporters in the nation believes it’s a bad legal decision. However, with everyone in the country set to discuss this topic over the next few weeks, I want to give an opinion that you may have never considered about the sociological implications of the Supreme Court decisions.
In Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the Supreme Court said, “Abortion is a unique act. It’s an act fraught with consequences for others.” But is it really an act fraught with consequences for others?
Or have third and fourth-wave feminists pushed this agenda so far that now it is only women that have to deal with the repercussions of this decision.
They have somehow convinced women that the only way to truly compete in modern society is to wholly withdrawal from the shoulder of burdening pregnancy, childbearing, and child-rearing. They tell women that no one can tell them what to do with their bodies.
It’s your body, your choice. So you deal with it, all of it. Women alone must deal with everything that comes with this decision. One of the most tragically unfortunate outcomes of the modern push to normalize abortion is that it almost entirely removes responsibility from the guy.
You see, New Age third and fourth-wave feminist agenda tells women you deal with the public ridicule embarrassment from picket lines outside the abortion clinic. You deal with continual doctor’s appointments and the medical opinion seemingly unconcerned with your feelings on the matter.
You take the burden of telling your family and dealing with the communal shame. You take the burden of raising the money for the abortion. You alone try and comprehend the shame and guilt of looking at a 3D sonogram of that child living inside of you and still remain pro-choice.
You alone deal with the chance of lifelong guilt, wonder, and worry. You alone deal with people telling you that you are discarding a potential human life as easily as one discard their wisdom teeth, teeth, or appendix, or an unwanted mole.
After all, liberalism tells you that it is your body, your right, your choice. Therefore, you are the only one that is forced to live with the repercussions of that decision. How do you not see that New Age feminism has placed a kind of burden on our mothers, sisters, and wives that they were never meant to bear?
By choosing to take on any and all responsibility prior to birth, women have entirely nullified any and all male accountability. Now, what has happened to the generation of women that knew that they were cherished and knew that men in their lives should treat them with dignity, respect, and treasure their very existence?
Where are those women that knew that their men should take care of them, protect them, and literally lay down their lives for them, if called upon, do so? Why are we, as men no longer held to that standard?
You’ve taken too much of the burden on yourselves women. You need to start forcing men to take some of that burden back and start treating you with the honor that you deserve.
