Host Leahy and Mayor Andy Ogles Weigh in on President Biden Calling a Fox News Reporter a ‘SOB’

Andy Ogles

Live from Music Row Tuesday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed Maury County Mayor Andy Ogles in the studio to comment upon the recent press conference where Joe Biden called White House reporter Peter Doocy a SOB in response to his question regarding inflation and midterm elections.

Leahy: We are joined in the studio by the mayor of Maury County, that bastion of economic freedom, that turbocharged engine of economic growth, Andy Ogles. Good morning, Andy.

Ogles: Good morning. I never get tired of hearing that.

Leahy: (Laughs) I kind of got it wrong because it’s that bastion of freedom.

Ogles: That’s right.

Leahy: And the turbocharged engine of economic growth. It still sounds good, but it’s just a fun phrase and it’s a descriptive phrase. Andy, you spend a lot of time dealing with the press, right? You’ve held innumerable press conferences.

Yes, Every Kid

Ogles: That’s right.

Leahy: I’m just curious. Have you ever…(Laughter)

Ogles: I have an idea of what you are getting at.

Leahy: Have you ever referred to a reporter asking you a question as a stupid SOB and having that caught on, mic, having that recorded and played around the country.

Ogles: Anyone can have a slip-up, but you always assume the mic is hot. (Leahy chuckles) And I just think that I hate to go back to this, but someone who has been in politics as long as he has should know better.

And it just kind of speaks to his cognitive issues. He had a thought that came to his mind and he has no filter anymore. And he just said it. (Leahy laughs) And of course, he did call the reporter but he actually didn’t say, sorry, pal. He said it was nothing personal, pal.

Leahy: Nothing personal, pal.

Ogles: That’s right.

Leahy: It’s sort of like remember that famous phrase when Bill Clinton, he was well known for this, and when somebody was interacting with him and he thought that person was a jerk and it was a small time player, he would always say this, nice tie. That was the clue. (Ogles chuckles) The staff would know, get this guy away from me. (Chuckles)

Ogles: That’s funny. What’s interesting, though, is you look at the double standards. If Trump had said it, if some other Republican conservative, in particular, had said something like that, man, the media would be all over them. But Biden is going to get a pass.

Leahy: Well, not really. Certainly not the Fox News folks. The mainstream media will give them a pass. But all that does is just reinforce the lack of honesty of the mainstream media.

There was this report that Nina Totenberg had on NPR where she claimed that Justice Roberts had instructed every member of the Supreme Court to wear a mask and that Neil Gorsuch defied it.

And that was why Sonia Sotomayor didn’t participate in in-person arguments. Participated remotely. Well, the Supreme Court issued a statement saying that was untrue. Big question. Did NPR retract their story?

Leahy: No, they did not.

Ogles: And I saw where another media outlet was still reporting it.

Leahy: Yes. But the problem is that the mainstream media does not follow anything that has to do with honest reporting, and that’s a big deal. Okay, so here we go. (Laughs)

Here was the question. The question said and this was at the end of the press conference. (Laughs) I can imagine if somebody asks you a question like this, how you would respond. You wouldn’t respond the way that Joe Biden did. Doocy said to Biden, “Do you think inflation is a political liability in the midterms?”

To which Biden responded sarcastically, “It’s a great asset, more inflation. What a stupid SOB.” I mean, you could hear that clear as a bell. And so he has to clean up on aisle three. Clean up on aisle three.

His press team then has to say, well, you did it again, Mr. President. So you got to call this guy up. I don’t know if they said apologize but apparently, Doocy’s said that’s fine. He didn’t apologize.

He said nothing personal, pal. When Biden calls you pal, it’s basically him saying like Clinton said, nice tie. That’s basically what he’s saying, right?

Ogles: Basically and I’m calling because I have to.

Leahy: I’m calling because I have to. So Peter Ducey then shows up on Jesse Waters (Laughs) and Jesse says, well, you obviously are a stupid SOB. Doocy laughs and he says, well, nobody’s done a fact check on that yet and said it’s not true. (Laughs)

Ogles: It’s crazy. You look at the media and just a lack of integrity with their reporting so little secret.

Leahy: Little secret. I think Neil McCabe of The Star News Network may get a White House press pass.

Ogles: Oh, wow.

Leahy: He might ask a question. I wonder what Biden will say to him! (Laughter)

Ogles: And how long before it’s pulled because he asks real questions.

Leahy: There you go.
